This Easons is uninspiringly set in the dated Irish Life Mall, but it does offer a great selection of magazines and periodicals. Want to know how to knit a yacht cosy? Or what the minor members of the British royal family are up to? Eason has the publication for you, along with the usual Cosmos, Heats, FHMs, Times etc. The book selection isn’t huge, although it often has 3 for 2 deals on current best sellers.

More and more I think of Easons as not really being a bookshop, and this one is a case in point. Yes they have books but the selection is really limited to the kinds of books a supermarket might sell. However they do have a good bit of stationary — in my mind Easons is a stationary shop — although it’s usually fairly pricey. Here you find the kinds of things that appeal to kids going back to school: pencil cases and folders with trendy brands on them. They also stock some kids book and cards, wrapping and some random gifty items.

The Eason on Talbot Street is a bit of a disappointment compared to the one on O’Connell Street. Whereas the O’Connell one has every book and school/office supply imaginable, the one on Talbot lacks a little bit of everything. Instead of focusing on high-brow reads, it stocks a lot of trashy novels, stuff like Harlequins, crime stories and discount pageturners. The inside doesn’t make me want to spend the afternoon browsing for something stimulating to read. The limited space makes me want to grab anything and go. If I were you, I would travel the extra 5 minutes to the big bookshop and not waste my time searching here.

Easons on Talbot Street is a smaller store than that found on O’Connell Street. It doesn’t have the range of stock that O’Connell does but it is convenient and has the everyday stationary and reading material one may need. A handy branch to remember if O’Connell branch is looking too packed.
