I went to Fitz to get my wedding dress altered. I was recommended to come a couple of weeks before my wedding by the staff however I wanted to have my dress ready so I could focus on other things for the wedding. Thankfully I did, as the whole job took about 4 weeks to ‘complete’ and then I had to find someone new to fix and clean it. Let me first say that I was given great service by the guy at the desk, however my experience with the alternator not so much. After my first appointment of taking my measurements I came back to find that my dress had been taken in too much. I couldn’t breath properly so I asked if it could be let out, to which resistantly she told me it looked perfect and that she would only if I REALLY wanted to. I returned the following week to find that the dress had been let out, but let out everywhere so there was a sag in the bust which caused a pretty obvious fold. When I pointed it out to her she got really defensive an pretty much refused to see the problem. Then asking me why i didn’t notice this last week, which I had to explain that it wasn’t an issue last week it must be something that happened from when it was let out. It took myself and two of my friends to convince her to fix it. She really didn’t want to and kept pointing out that I would have to pay for the pleasure. Nobody asked her to do it for free! In total I think i went back to her 4 times with issues, my last appointment I asked if the dress could be cleaned and she told me I would have to go somewhere else, despite being told on my first appointment that this was a service they provided. I came home with the dress feeling pretty frustrated from the experience and stressed at now having to find someone to clean it that hopefully wouldn’t provide me the same kind of service. My husband found someone from his suit alterers to clean the dress and when I went and showed them the it they pointed out that the dress did not fit me properly at all! This lady then altered my dress and cleaned it within one week(having it back to me 3 days before my wedding!) and only charged me 60 euro. When I picked it up it was like a new dress, all the issues the other woman had told me I would have to just put up with being from the type of material and because she was working on it so much were gone. I am so frustrated at the service i received here. I paid over 250 euro to get my dress chopped and changed over 4 weeks and it still didn’t fit correctly and on top of that to get attitude from the person your paying to do the job to then have to go find someone else 10 days before the wedding to fix it. Brides beware!

3 weeks ago my daughter arrived in Fitz shop in Drury Street in a panic. She had come from Australia with her wedding dress which was to say the least in a pretty bad state. It was too tight around the waist and the buttons did not match there was a gaping hole at the waist. Your wonderful gifted seamstress Violetta came to the rescue. She had only 2days to make the dress wearable. It was a very difficult dress to work with as it was lace with not much extra material to let out. I would say she performed a miracle and when we went back for a final fitting it was perfect the buttons matched perfectly and she put in extra loops for the dress to be transformed when the dancing started. I wish to thank you most sincerely for making a very stressed bride who had fallen out of love with her dress very happy and radiant on her special day. I would definitely recommend this service. I came up to this place after failing to locate the new location for the old Abbey Street Fitz place. I think I may have been hungover. I was guided by food and emotions that day! I am pretty sure the guy who works here was the same guy who was on Abbey Street when Fitz was called Zipyard. He either owns or manages these shops. I told him that I couldn’t find the new location for the Abbey Street store and that was how I ended up at Drury Street. I mentioned to him that he should update the info on Unilocal. He explained that he doesn’t do anything with Unilocal because there was a nasty and apparently unfair review written about Abbey Street from a couple of years back and that they contacted Unilocal about it to complain. Which of course that is how Unilocal works and people are able to voice their opinion without censorship, whether that be bad or good. [Emily C are you listening to this. I’m such a Unilocal ambassador] I explained to him how Unilocal works and that there are algorithms which determine what reviews appear first etc. on a businesses page. So Elite members show first. If someone is constantly nasty with reviews, they will not get the airtime that the balanced reviewers would get etc. etc. Anyways! Back to the service. I did a slut drop a few weeks back and ripped my chinos. I told him exactly that. He laughed. Took my details and told me it would be ready Tuesday [this was a Saturday late afternoon]. I said lovely stuff, got a receipt and was off on my merry way. I received a text Tuesday morning saying my chinos were ready. I picked them up. Cost me a fiver and a really good job was done on undoing my slut dropping damage! Great service really and very friendly and reasonably priced at a fiver to stitch up a ripped pair of chinos. So I hope he changes his opinion about Unilocal and uses it more to his advantage. It is a great tool for a business. Just one bad review does not determine a businesses reputation and for that one bad review they seem to be doing pretty well with the rest of the reviews. Including mine now. Fitz is highly recommended.
