Exchequer St. has more guitar shops than George W. has missing brain cells. Okay, not really, no one out does good ol’ dubs there, but seriously there are a lot of guitar shops on Exchequer Street. The one that you will have the hardest time finding is Guitar Fix. It is upstairs above what I think is an Italian wine bar or something. If you look up at the windows above the shops on the street, you will see a small sign and perhaps some guitars in the windows near the sign. Go to the door in-between the shops below the sign. You will have to find the appropriate buzzer and the owner will let you in. Once you get up there you will find a couple rooms full of mostly used guitars and basses and amps and accessories to go with them. The guitars range from low end(and I mean low) to mid-high range. You might have a few high end vintage gems once and a while but it seems to me that it would be a rare find. The owner seemed nice enough, though a bit snarky, but that could just be the Irish wit that I am not fully accustomed to yet. So far, so good, but the issue comes when I see the prices. Because it’s a used guitar shop, most of the stuff you will see is not exactly mint condition, some of it as far from mint as you can get, and therein lies the problem. Everything seems a little too high priced for what it is. This seems to be a trend in most of the guitar shops around Dublin, except for another one(nearby guitar fix), which I see moving more product faster than most of the stores around them, including Guitar Fix. Overall I would say that it’s a great little guitar shop off the beaten path that has a vast array of used guitars. I’m not sure if the owner is willing to negotiate prices, but in some cases you will want to, because for used guitars, they are a little bit overpriced.
