What a great local hole in the wall pub! We wanted to kill time before visiting the Guiness Storehouse, so I Unilocaled a local pub. There’s not much near here, but luckily Harkin’s was one block away. We stuck out here, it was obviously locals only, but who cares! They were all very nice to us. We ate the absolutely delicious Irish stew, and met the nice lady who made it fresh that morning. I loved that stew, the beef was so tender and there were lots of chunky potatoes! If you want authentic stew, and a fresh pint, come here. It was damn delicious, not touristy, and a good price! The pint of Guiness with the huge bowl of delicious stew was only like 11 or 12EUR. Great price, great stew, great pub!

A friendly bar in the shadow of the Guinness brewery. Charming waitress Agatha is as good as it gets with her Irish hospitality. I couldn’t wait the one hour for the brewery tour and stumbled here hungry. Two words: beef stew. Just get it!

Happened upon this lovely place while visiting Guinness on a tour of Dublin. Bartenders were very friendly and even gave me a tip on how to get tickets to the Manchester United match during my trip! Very welcoming atmosphere to a couple of Americans.

Going to see Biffy Clyro in concert at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, we ended up going on an impromptu, but fun pub crawl to a fairly mixed array of pubs /bars. Harkin’s was the last before we hit the concert grounds and by far my favourite. A lovely surprise, the pint of Guinness was just simply divine. No surprise really as it’s located right beside the St James Gate brewery. Inside the décor is clean, comfy and cosy, with the typical Dublin local vibe. TVs on the wall had both the World Cup and GAA. The facilities were in the process of being upgraded, but very clean(excellent). Locals were friendly too. Recommended and I will pop in again next time I’m in the area.
