Busy little spot even in this early pre tourist season. It’s a long out of the way drive to visit just the lighthouse so I’d recommend stopping at the beaches and haunted house on route here(All sign posted). When here you can enjoy the waves smashing off the cliffs, looking at scuba divers going off the edge, tour of the lighthouse and a restaurant. Oh a walk along the cliff which goes to the abbey is very popular so if it’s a sunny day I’d say go on it. Nice overall would come back for a nice walk for sure

Cold, beautiful, windswept and interesting… But enough about me. A visit to Hook lighthouse is much more than the sum of its parts. You are all but surrounded by rough and beautiful seas, crashing on to the rugged shoreline, you have the lighthouse itself on the huge campus with a wee museum and coffee shop, you have the drive along the coast to get there. The weather was more than a bit inclement during our most recent visit — to be honest, I think that just adds to the experience.

Beautiful location. The tour is interesting and views terrific. The café serves delicious food. The staff is very professional and courteous. Very aware and able to handle food allergies.

We didn’t do the tour the day we were here. The lighthouse is in full working order, and is situated at the end of the Ring of Hook. The views are spectacular and there is access to the rocks so you can get close to the sea. There is a large green area for picnics with games set up for children. Nice café there too!
