The kebabs here are tasty– especially the lamb shish. Its a fairly basic set up and more of an option when its late and you are starving. However, I do like the kebabs here

Oh my gosh. This food was AMAZING! I got the special 10 which was chips with chicken, garlic, and chili sauce and I could not believe how great it was! It reminded me of chili cheese fries. It was so so filling and a really great price. Plus, the staff was patient when my husband kept asking crazy questions about the menu. Would definitely recommend!

I didn’t enjoy my meal here. I felt it was overpriced, greasy, and of poor quality. It took 30 minutes to get food at 8 pm on a Saturday. I was not happy with the service or food. I told customers coming in not to bother, that’s how much I disliked it… And I don’t really dislike much. Many more options in the area. Avoid this one.

You have to be drunk to eat in here and enjoy it! It’s not great sober. In my opinion there is no competition between Iskander’s and Zaytoon. At least in Zaytoon you get your food served on a plate and are not eating out of wrappers!

I came here with my mother based on the good reviews. We got two chicken shawarma combos. The sandwich was soggy and unappetizing. We ended up throwing both sandwiches away and having fries only for dinner. The two stars for the good fries and delicious garlic sauce.

Ah Iskanders. You were my first 14 years ago, and I still dream about you from my home back in America. Every time I come back to Dublin I’m always happy to see you; I always make an effort to stop in and see you, and from the moment I have you in my hands it feels like it did all those years ago. It’s always good — the later in the night it is, the better it tastes. The lamb shawarma, folks! What did you think I was talking about! I’ve eaten many a shawarma over the years, and I’ve always felt like Iskanders did it better than anyone else. It’s perfectly prepared, and the spices and sauce all work very well together. The counter service can be a little spotty, but it’s all about the food. Don’t wait until the pubs close! Believe it or not, this place is actually open before then.

Close but no cigar. Maybe my problem was that I was sober and that a doner kebab is best consumed whilst inebriated. I ordered the shwarma which was the typical lamb carved off a giant spit, wrapped in lavash bread and stuffed full of veggies. I was surprised that they did not ask me at all what I wanted on it and they went ahead and threw all of the veggies and a minimally spicy sauce over before wrapping it and handing it over. Had I known this I would have asked them to skip the sauce because I find often they overpower the kebab and make it hard to taste the lamb. In this case I was right and the most prominent flavour was the sauce. The meat was tender and juicy, not dry at all which was great and the bread was light and flaky, both welcome but the overall structure of the sandwich wasn’t the best and I found my yearning for a great kebab unsatisfied by my trip here. It was early evening and yet there was a party of incredibly drunk people in there being rowdy and generally abusive. I wonder if they are a mandatory part of any kebab shop experience, mandated by a city bylaw?

Great place to go after drinks on a Friday or Saturday night. I’d imagine that’s the cash cow. Great kabab and chips and the sauce was very tasty. I could have had a little more though. But that’s me and my great desire to have the sauce dripping into my chips… The service was very fast and friendly and I would totally recommend here for a quick bite-not really for a long and romantic meal though!

The homous and naan are amazing! We went here before a night out in temple bar, so it wasn’t just the drunchies kicking in. My sister ordered the mixed shish kebab as a wrap and said it’s probably one of the bet wraps she’s ever had. Not the best if you’re looking for quick service and ambiance, but if you want really really good food and not spend a fortune, definitely try this place.

We went there late one night and had the chicken shawarma. This is the second best shawarma I have ever had!!! Anyone passing by, ought to stop in as it is worth the time and money. The sandwich itself is filling as if you get the plate, you may not finish the fries. Our last night/dinner in Dublin was commemorated with a visit to Iskander’s. On one night while there, a drunk eejit came in and tried to create some chaos but the manager told him keep his sandwich, gave him his money back and told him to go. Although, this was not enough, Three security officers had to circle the man and they slowly walked him out the door. The only real scene was the foolish drink man. Everyone else remained calmed and carried on as it was another day. If you walk by, stop in for a bite-you won’t be disappointed.

Great kabob spot. Fast service and fairly reasonable. Got the chicken and my buddy got the lamb. Both were outstanding.

After a heavy night out in town all I wanted to do was go home but a friend insisted on venturing here despite my obnoxious shouts at it being a total dive etc., etc. Well, I bow down and admit my shortcomings. The chips were nothing special in my opinion but my friend wouldn’t stop going on about how«amaaaaazing» his chicken kebab was, apparently it was better than any other kebab he had ever tried in his whole life at 4am in the morning. For me though, it was the friendliness of the staff which makes me more open to the idea of it being my new post-night-out go-to joint. I appreciate that it’s not easy to keep a friendly exterior when you’re dealing with drunken louts coming in shouting for food and making a holey show of themselves all night long, but these guys were so lovely and jolly that you’d swear they were characters in a Disney movie that just happened to be set in a kebab shop! The next time I’m in need of some grease-laden carbs, I know where I’m heading.

The Shish kebabs at this place were ok. Nothing too special but they suffice if you are really hungry. The garlic fries are really tasty, so that’s a plus. Either way, it’s a place that does the trick if you are hungry and need a quick bite to eat.

Good, typical kebabs. After I’ve been out in town drinking, I feel like God or whoever put these kebabs in this shop for me to eat them. I have also eaten in here during the week and I found that the kebab I got then when it was less busy was much better than the ones I got when it was really busy and the weekend. I am searching for the perfect kebab and have yet to find it here but I feel these kebabs are pretty damn good all the same.

2 words: garlic fries. Who can even tell exactly what’s so great about this place, because the only times I’ve ever been I’ve been half in the bag. But I tell you this: you will not be disappointed.

Fresh nan. Fresh burnt falafel. Not enough sauce. 3 pieces of tomato. Pretty slow service. Problems with execution but I can see the food being really good if they fixed it – maybe I just had a bad go!

What better way to finish off a night on the tear in DUblin City than by smearing an Iskander’s lamb shwarma kebab with extra chilli sauce all over your face and shirt front! I reckon I should have shares in this place because I’m at the stage where the dude behind the counter has me order rang up on the till before I even close I step into the shop. The staff look a bit grumpy but are actually alright lads when you get to know them. One drawback, alas, is that the quality varies. Either it’s the best kebab ever or it’s luke-warm soggy cardboard mess but sometimes it doesn’t matter, it all depends on the volume of alcohol you’ve guzzled before hitting the place. If you’re feeling a bit Zohan… the humus is good too!

Excellent place to get some grub after a night out of boozing around Dublin. The kebabs are deeeelicious. I also have a story to go along with this eatery. One time a friend and I stopped into Iskander for a quick bite to eat at 2 in the morning. The place was jam packed. Lots of people in Dublin like to stay out late and drink… who knew? So we placed our order and told the man that we are going to wait outside. He said no problem and would call us in when our food was ready. While chatting outside a homeless family approached us(yes family… mom, dad, and two kids). They asked us to buy them food as they had not eaten in a day. We of course could not turn down this very sad looking group of people and went back in to order for them. They followed us in. So here is my friend and I with four dirty and smelly people. I am not trying to make fun of them, they were just very dirty and smelly. So we walk back up the counter, order 4 gyros and some drinks for the family. As we are waiting for the food, the father thanks us for this kind gesture. I smile at him and say no problem. This is where it gets weird. Some tall, bald and scary looking freak comes over to me and says«what are you smiling at!» Normally I am ready to throw down and go UFC on people, but this particular guy kind of was out of my league. I am more fit to scrap with 8 year old boys, frail women and midgets. This Mr Clean on roids was about 6’6″ and looked like he could rip phone books in half. So I kindly tell the guy to calm down and that I was not smiling at him. Shockingly the goon backed off and went back over to his pals. We get the food, give it out to our smelly pals and say good bye to them. We also get our food and start walking to our hotel. Out of nowhere the bald guy runs over and approaches my friend, headbutts him and runs off. The funniest part of all of this was that he did not hurt my friend, who is a former football player and wrestler. My friend stood there stunned, smiled and went back to eating his gyro. This would not be the last we saw of the bald guy, as he wound up confronting my friend at another Dublin locale. …to be continued.
