Lillies Bordello

I love Lillies!
This is one of the hottest and exclusive spots in Dublin located at the top of Grafton street. Every time I am in Dublin for the night I make sure that I am in Lillies as you are guaranteed a good night.
It is made up of three floors with the top floor being a members only section with a more chilled out vibe than the club below.
The table service is great and the hostess make sure that your needs are all catered for.
I recommend everyone giving Lillies a go once and you will be back.

Not bad. Some staffs is a friendly, but some staffs is not a kindly.
However, atmosphere is nice! It’s very luxury.
Foods is so-​so, and drinks (cockatiels) is a nice taste.

This should really have a 2.5 rating…
This place is just bland …
However I came on Friday evening but early at say half six so maybe it’s better late at night. .
Staff and service were fine .
Décor I enjoyed but surprisingly quite tacky
We ordered wine and a cheese board .
The board came with a very poor selection of cheese and meat … There was too much cheese (quantity wise) and not enough crackers to go with it.
.and even though there was a large portion of cheese, the choice wasn’t varied at all… there was only about three different types. … the meat was quite sickening .
There was no background music even or anything in the place just silence…
So yeah. was ok

One barman here gave us tonic water from a plastic litre bottle that was flatter than Shakiras chest for starters.
It made me wonder what all the upmarket stigma the name Lillies used to be entwined with back in the day was all about. I have been here twice with friends and both times were on a monday.
The band who played were really good but when you are sipping on over priced drinks beneath some toss pot quote painted on the wall about ‘scangers’ or poverty being devoid from this establishment, it does, nt make you feel like an elite member of the human race by any standards.
Lillies is attached to the porterhouse on grafton/​nassau street and both establishments are owned by the same group. On monday night you could not walk from the back of the porter house up into Lillies. They made you go back onto nassau street and stroll in the entrance to Lillies on Grafton St for scrutineering.

But when I told my Mum id been to Lillies she told me she had been there in her day and fallen out of love with it and George Orwell answered that one too

I always wondered about this place — especially due to it’s name to be honest. But that name as well didn’t particularly attract me going there.
Anyhow. Due to a pre event meetup I went with a group of people (20 – 30) on a Friday night. We met at 6pm and I left at about 11pm — so I didn’t stay for the nightclub bit. There were a few other people when we were there so definitely not overcrowded.
The decoration is as it should be for a bar of that name — which is fine with me. I was standing mainly so didn’t get to test the seats that looked compfy enough. The bar staff was lovely. I went for Sierra Nevada pale ale which came to € 5.50.
Oh, and you can use the Orderella app there which makes the drinks slightly more expensive when used to order but if it’s really busy in there I’d say it’s worth it.

I really don’t understand what the big hype is about this place. I think the only way this place is as posh and fancy people make it out to be is because it’s on grafton street. When I fist went here I was expecting something amazing but people trust me there is nothing amazing about this place. It’s actually pretty small for a night club the décor isn’t that great and people inside are very ignorant. I actually had a girl start at fight with me in there! It’s way over priced for what it actually is.
In January we had booked a table here for the VIP section for my now sister in law hens night, they where told it was for a hens night. When we got to the door we were refused entry because we where a hen party and they don’t allow hen party’s so girls stay well away if your on a hens night out.
We went to dandelions and had a great night!

In agreeance with most of the other reviews here; Lillies has definitely had it’s day. How it’s still open, I don’t know. Awful décor, cheesy music, and extremely inhospitable bouncers.
I was in there on a Saturday night (don’t ask me what brought us there — think Love/​Hate vs The Only Way is Essex, in real life) from about 11pm to 12pm, and the place was near empty, so people are obviously wise to it at this stage.
Booze prices were just that — pricey, and served with a scowl. (Halloween’s not here yet folks!)
Avoid at all costs.

It was my favorite place when I was there. Awesome peeps, really friendly, like a family. Especial I recommend Thursday nights, awesome music and crowd. I miss the club.

Went on a Tuesday night a about a month ago. The place was hoppin’, the dance floor was full-​on boogie, and the bartenders were fast. I had a lovely night and a good send-​off for a friend who was leaving the country.
Walked in on the following Tuesday and the place was DEAD. As in completely empty. I guess it’s hit-​and-​miss for weeknights.

You may be asking yourself the following:

This is why Annie posted the picture. I was invited by a good friend to this spot — never in a month of Sundays would you find me here but hey I was curious and I was put on the VIP list — woot.
Define VIP?
Does VIP mean that a bottle of wine on their list is € 1500? Yes.
Does VIP mean that you have to use a disgusting toilet that at one point had no toilet paper? Yes.
Does VIP mean that you have to wait 30mins to close your tab? Yes.
Does VIP mean that they did not have the correct glasses for tequila? Yes. I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to drinking tequila but the fact that they did have on hand proper cognac glasses irked me.
Bottom line is, if that was my joint and you are my VIP guest I would treat you so well. For a start I would have candles in the loo… It’s the little things.
*** One female bartender with blonde hair was the only member of staff that was on her game and understood customer service, she stepped up her game when she saw me get pissed off that I was waiting for ages, and for that she got a € 10 tip — she should be running that joint, then it would be great.

… Oh wow, I do. That was, like, the place to be *seen* back in 2006.

Good question…
Suffice to say my night at Lillies was less than impressive. The fittings were clean, the moody lighting twinkling, but the humid pall that saturated the rooms — along with a drifting smell — made the place feel like an old courtesan who just won’t retire.
Granted, it was a Thursday, but when I’m paying cover (5 euro last night, up to 15 on weekends) I expect to be impressed. What I got instead was a packed side-​bar area, an empty dance floor with music from a remote DJ, a shuttered main bar and a strange dripping liquid seeping from the ceiling over the pool table.
Pricy drinks, no specials and music so loud there was nothing to do but sit back and watch skinny kids shake their bones at each other (while dodging the disapproving glares of the very obvious and ominous security staff) meant things were much less glam than the décor and reputation promised. And when that pack of grannies rolled in around 1am, I knew it was time to pack up the team and head home.
With so many clubs of the same ilk already closing or under new management, I’m wondering how long it will be til someone take the old girl on and gives Lillie’s the makeover she (and her cover charges) so desperately need.

This place is wayyyyyy too posh for my taste. A fake old brothel interior seemingly makes this the place to be for Dublin’s rich and famous (and some starlets who had their pictures printed in the Metro, on page 4). But the 2 times I’ve been here the ultra-​aggressive bouncers and unfriendly staff did not help to improve my appreciation of this place. If you do not own a big shiny car of German or Italian making, please stay away.

Lillies is an institution and is renowned for being very pretentious and a spot that some of the Irish celebs will hit up on a semi regular basis (I’ve heard that Colin Farrell likes to hang out here). When I was in college we didn’t bother trying to go here since the bouncers tended to have a policy against students (I can respect that) but 2 weeks ago I finally got to see the inside of the place on a Tuesday night. In short, I was under whelmed. For having such a «Prestigious» reputation (that’s what their website says) the place seems to be in need of some renovation.
The space is very roomy and there were plenty of places to sit but something about the layout made me feel that the place was too disjointed. No one was mingling and it felt like a place you would come to be «alone» with your friends. To Lillies’ credit i may have just been experiencing Dublin on a Tuesday night. I was surprised to see that they have a pool table here and I can imagine it being a fun spot to have a birthday party since you can rent out certain sections.
I’m sure I’ll give this place another shot but given how expensive all the drinks are, I’ll have to experience something special for me to make this place a regular haunt when I fly home.
