Once was too many times to try this sad excuse for a Chinese restaurant. Only reason I ate the food in front of me was cause I was starving. Not sure how this place is still in business … maybe the locals have NO clue what good Chinese food tastes like. Stay away! Even if they lowered the 7.50 Euro early bird special to 0.75 I would still not return.

If it was not for the fact that I had nothing at home to eat and I was too tired to cook I would have left the place as fast as I had entered. Already when I came in the smell was only of grease, not the nice«uh, Chineeese» smile that would normally come when I go to a decent Chinese place. The only reason I entered was the early bird special which was on a sign in the window. The deal was a a starter and a main for 7.50 Euros. i went there with my boyfriend and we each ordered a starter and a main which we then shared. The food was bland and was without flavor. I had the spring roll which had a too thin layer of breading — should be said the veggies inside were fresh which was really good. The other starter we ordered where the barbecue ribs — I took one bite and I was ready to go to the bathroom. i know that they are fatty, but that was just too much. No meat on them what so ever and the sauce was not good — not what you would expect from good Chinese barbecue. The two mains were the chicken curry and the sweet and sour which I could have done better myself and I do not know how to cook Chinese food. NOT going there again even if i do not have food in the kitchen and I am too tired to make any — I’ll just pop by Tesco next door and by a sandwich or frozen packaged blab.

Ah, the lovely Lotus Garden. Quick delivery, great food — I recommend the beef in black bean sauce. It also does the classic 3 in 1(fried rice, chips and curry sauce in a long tray) and those devilish chicken balls. The set dinners sound marvellously mystifying but I have to confess that I have never ordered one, having never got the right combination of people around to eat them. The Lotus does offer the option of sitting in, but it’s really a delivery job unless you’re stuck.

Lotus Garden has a wide range of Chinese meals ranging from prawns, beef, chicken, duck, Kung Po, Szechuan, Satay, Chop Suey, Sweet and Sour, Curry, Foo Young and Chow Mein and there are vegetarian options also. It’s in a handy location and has very reasonable prices which make Lotus Garden a good option for dinner. I have only had take away from here but when picking it up those having dinner inside always seem to be enjoying themselves and the staff are constantly rushing about meeting customers’ needs. We may go for a sit down meal next time…
