If I could leave 0 stars I would. The owner is an asshole and will try to fleece you. I went in with broken specs and I was told that the technician would be the only person who could tell me. The owner looked at my glasses and said they were irreparable and found a set of expensive frames and said it was my only option. I said I would come back and look for the technician. I came back and the owner said the only option would be to buy the frames. I said could he take them to the technician downstairs to do it, he said he would do it himself and said it was breaking. I asked him to take the arm off and bend the hinge. He said he wouldn’t do that, and broke them just to show me that they would break. This was to sell me the 295 € frames, as I couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t take it to the technician downstairs or take the arm off to bend the hinge up. This was after he said he was not trying to sell me something. WHATANASSHOLE. I hope you go out of business from fleecing tourists and not listening to your customers.

MacNally Opticians are the super-coolest opticians in Dublin, from their smooth talking logo, down to their suave website, these guys have got style. Okay, I’m getting carried away here, they really do have some really nice frames but they’re all top drawer stuff, most of them are titanium, and all of them are on the pricey side. The staff couldn’t be nicer, even when a scruff like me, obviously not wearing glasses, walks in for a poke about I was greeted cordially. So, if I ever need glasses, and have a little more change than usual jingling about in my pocket, I’ll hit MacNally Opticians.

I’ve just walked out the door of this business and I was very impressed. Normally we have to put up with ridiculous prices and terrible service from doctors and dentists and opticians and the like, probably because new BMWs and golf club memberships don’t come cheap. But at MacNally I walked in the door and was immediately greeted by staff(even though they were doing something else). I didn’t have an appointment, which was apparently no problem. I was directed to a comfy couch and in about two minutes seen by an optometrist(who was friendly, helpful and thorough). I thought I had lost a contact lens up in the back of my eye somewhere, but apparently it had fallen out and my eye was just irritated. Despite me trying to pay, the optometrist would not charge me for this service. Fantastic. I did have a peep through MacNally’s impressive showroom of frames and they have some lovely, high quality, high fashion frames. Of course, you pay for this, but find me an optician where frame prices don’t seem wildly optimistic! MacNally have won a customer. I will be buying my next pair of specs here no questions asked.
