Is there anything more relaxing than building model planes? Well, ok I can think of quite a few things that I’d do to relax before I’d get to building model planes but I do like that as well. And you can get pretty nice Airfix packs at Mark’s. The staff are very friendly and have a lot of time for a chat and swapping tips and stories. They also have glues and paints along with the models, which means you don’t have to go anywhere else to finish that plane. So, if you like models a bit more than I do you should check out Marks Models in town or the branch in Dun Laoghaire.

The one stop shop for model train, plane, ship and car fanatics. Mark’s Models has been around since 1987, when the Southern Model Railway Company folded, and established itself easily in the absence of other places to buy Airfix kits and Hornby train sets.
Their basement premises is a treasure trove of diecast in all scales, Scalextrix and other slot car brands, and all sorts of railway modelling items. A full range of paints, glues, accessories and friendly advice are also on offer.
Branches are also to be found in Dun Laoghaire and Cork.
