McCabe’s is a simple corner deli. That being said, it’s perfect. If you want A quick sandwich, a coffee, tea, fruit smoothie or soft drink, this place will not disappoint. I found this place by happenstance and enjoyed the aptly named Chicken Delight sandwich. Twice. Service was quick and friendly, the food was tasty, reasonably priced, and satisfying. It was a great way to start the day and I highly recommend it.

Met some friends here for lunch and copied my friend and got their chicken salad sandwich. You have an option of white or brown bread. The chicken salad is more of a paste than chunky. You can also add in as many veggies as you want and they happily do it for you. For a large sandwich, it was less than 4 euro. The only negative comment I have is that I wish the cashier gave me my change back. I prefer tipping on my own account instead of it just being taken for granted. Anyways, back to the food. It was a relatively large sandwich and you could probably take half home for dinner later but I stuffed down the entire thing in my gluttony. It was quite good but didn’t sustain me for too long, though. I’d come back if I was in the area and wanted a good cheap lunch.

I love going to McCabes for their chicken salad/stuffing sandwich and the prices are fair depending on how many toppings you get on the sandwich. The reason I knock them a point is for two reasons: 1. you have to get here early or there is only less desirable bread choices/sandwich options left over. 2. the staff who makes your sandwiches never seems to understand what my friends & I are saying so i have to repeat myself until I give up and use hand gestures to point. They are quick to throw on as many toppings as they can before you can say no since they can charge more. I don’t mean to scare away new customers as i truly love their sandwiches. Just be prepared when you order!

I used to always go to McCabes before I joined Unilocal and only rediscovered it yesterday. After putting up with crappy sandwiches made in the local spar(BARF) I ventured back to McCabes. They have every kind of bread/wrap/roll you can think of and an array of delicious goodies to put on it. They also have pre made ciabattas ready to be toasted, soups and hot meals like lasagne and cottage pie. You can sit down here or takeaway although its always fairly hectic so getting a seat might be difficult. It cost me 5 quid for my toasted wrap and it was SODAMNGOOD… Sorry for leaving you for so long… see you Tuesday for the usual :)

This sandwich bar is directly opposite the offices of the Irish Times, so attracts its fair share of the lunchtime sambo crowd. McCabe’s sells a range of home-cooked meals such as cottage pie, lasagne and potato cakes, although from the looks(and the queues) they are most renowned for their ciabattas and made-to-order sandwiches. And what HUGE sandwiches! You’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth here, and the ingredients are really varied and fresh. There is an indoor eating area, but it’s so chaotic here it’s really not enjoyable to eat inside. Best to takeaway and eat at your desk, or in a nearby park. A good place to pop into if you forget your packed lunch ;-)
