Parking can be a challenge but this place has a wonderful selection of craft beers which makes the parking roulette worth it. They have a Web site so you can order and then collect.

Although McHugh’s catered well enough to me during my nascent teen years of drinking cheap wine and beer, I have lately been able to appreciate its excellent range of wine and craft beers. As a relatively inductee into the world of craft beer, it has supplied me with a vast and diverse variety of brands, and the staff are a friendly and genuinely interested bunch who are always willing to discuss what to try in an enthusiastic and unpretentious way. One of the best Off Licenses on the north side without a doubt.

Very polite and helpful. Will always bag for you. Will sugest an offer you may not have spotted that might save you money. Nothing is too much trouble.

Even though McHugh’s is a fair few minutes further away from my house than the off licence in Raheny(plus it’s in actual Kilbronx — eeew), I’ll still more often than not jump on the bike and make the journey if time at all allows it. McHugh’s is nicer laid than Raheny, and it has a much better range of beers. And I don’t really drink wine unless it’s free at some class of reception or whatever, but the wine selection at McHugh’s is at least twice that of Raheny Offo, so if wine is your thing, go knock yourself out. Added to this, McHugh’s has proper fridges that close, which means that the cans are really cold(plus less of a carbon footprint than open-faced fridges). And they were the first off licence around to stock Stoya, still 6 for € 7 at a time when Dutch and Tuborg realised that they were Giffen goods and decided to jack their prices up. So bravo, McHugh’s, my hat goes off to you.

Offering a good selection of spirits and beers, Mc Hughs off License offers good value. However it’s strenghts lie in it’s particularly good wine selection and knowledgable staff. Last Christmas i was buying a bottle of wine for a french friend and was quite specific asking for a red from Bordeaux. I was surprised to be shown quite a few bottles that were suitable and was given a good description of each, from nice little stories on each bottle to which berries an oak flavours should come bursting into my mouth. Recommended!
