Meagher’s is the one of the largest pubs on the border of the north city/suburbs. This is partly due to its location — it is quite a GAA hangout in the summer and plays host to travelling fans who take advantage of its large car park out back. If you want the quintessential Irish summer experience of wasps flying around your pint of cider, sitting on a bench/wall with strangers, surrounded by crates of empty soft drink bottles, then get yourself down. At all other times of the year, the pub serves the local drinking folk, the front bar can be imposing if you’re not a regular and the back lounge rather dead if there’s not a throng in. Guaranteed to be buzzing on a Sunday afternoon, with the carvery sizzling and the soccer on the telly.
