MEC Hostel

My sister and I stayed at a private apartment for 1 week. It isn’t in the hostel where you check in, but a couple doors down. The price was amazing and the apartment was perfect. I slept on the double bed upstairs, and my sister slept on the fold out couch. There is a kitchen, with a washer and a nice big, clean bathroom. The details on the ceiling were beautiful and I loved the huge windows!
The apartment is on the quiet side of the River, just a short walk to Temple Bar. We liked being on the quiet side, that way we knew we would get a good nights rest. If I am ever in Dublin again, I will be staying here.

Mt Eccles was without a doubt the best hostel I’ve stayed at in Dublin, and I’ve sampled a few.
The rooms were large and spacious and the hostel is located in an old Georgian style building, with crazy big windows and staircases.
It’s around 20 euro a night, with breakfast included, and while not an overly sociable hostel, this one will guarantee you a good night’s sleep (unless you find yourself sharing a room with the crazy Romanian guy my friend was stuck with!) The common room is light and cheery and there is even a ping pong table — yeah! International grudge tournaments here we come!
While I was staying there they had a brilliant offer of a week’s accommodation for 80 euro. Was such a great deal, considering I had friends who were paying similar amounts to stay in absolute dives. North Great Georges St is a nicer part of D1 and makes for a pleasant location. I’d stay here again.

Das ist bestimmt das schlechteste Hotel in dem ich je übernachtet habe. (und hoffentlich übernachtet haben werde).
Ok, die Lage ist top, und das Haus sieht von außen auch nett aus.
Alles andere empfinde ich als fast untragbar.
Im Doppelzimmer gab es Schimmel nicht nur an einer Wand, durchlöcherte Bettlaken und einen Bodenbelag, auf den ich mich fast nicht traute meinen Rucksack abzustellen.
Ein größeres Zimmer, in dem Bekannte übernachteten war etwas gepflegter, dafür nicht abschließbar.
Das Personal an der Rezeption zudem unfreundlich, und gegen Schlagzeug_​Session nachts um vier auf dem Flur wird auch nichts unternommen.
Fazit: definitv trotz günstigem Preis nicht empfehlenswert. Lieber den typischen Dublin-​Preis bezahlen, und etwas mehr komfort
Ach ja: Frühstück ist genau zwei SCheiben Toast, eine kleine Butter, eine Tasse Tee oder Kaffe, ein Döschen Marmelade. Mehr gibt es nicht. Den Toast darf man wenigstens selbst toasten ;-)
gut, denn im Frühstücksraum ist es ziemlich kalt.

Drei Mal schon waren wir im Mount Eccles Hostel — allerdings nicht, weil wir den Service überragend finden oder die Unterkunft so hübsch und gepflegt ist. Das alles ist es nämlich nicht. Der einzige Vorteil ist der, dass es in einer Seitenstraße der O’Connel Street liegt und damit wirklich zentral, aber ruhig. Ich rate dringend dazu, Flip Flops für die Dusche mitzunehmen, die wirklich nicht besonders sauber ist. Das Frühstück ist im Zimmerpreis enthalten und besteht aus zwei Scheiben Toast, Kaffee und Orangensaft.
