An odd shaped slice of go eat pizza and a Coke for four euros. Late night place to get something to eat. Otherwise don’t bring your date here.

Was originally put off while waiting for food by the sleazy staff asking drunk girls to kiss them, and then making comments to my girlfriend when I went to the the bathroom. The chips tasted like they were old and re-cooked, very soggy and like cardboard. I had a Chicken burger also which was extremely blandy and soggy and fell apart in my hands. And the worst part, there were SEVEN, yes SEVEN hairs in my meal which disgusted me so much I couldn’t finish it. I have never come on Unilocal to leave a negative review before but this was by far the worst food experience I have had in Dublin.

Without a doubt my favourite place to get a kebab in the city centre! Staff are always really nice and the food is excellent, i wish i explored more of the menu but i always opt for the lamb kebab which is just so damn good to pass up on. The portions are massive which is something i don’t often find often with other kebab joints in Dublin. Quite inexpensive aswell for the quality and size of the portions which is surprising since it’s located in temple bar. Gem of a place.

These guys haven’t had a review in a while, so after a great experience there yesterday, I decided they deserved it. My Mrs and I were in town — 3pm on a Wednesday — just off a flight(no food in the fridge at home), and in need of sustenance — stat! We dropped into Mezza — my expectations were not that high. We got a lamb kebab meal, and a falafel meal, to share between us — it came to 17 euro. The service was friendly and fast — I asked for plenty of hummus with the falafel — I got a boatful on the side. The portions were large — really it was a bad idea to order the meal(comes with chips and soft drink), as just the sandwiches themselves would have been more than enough. The chips that arrived though were pretty good. The lamb on the kebab was actually pretty great for a kebab place — plenty of browning, and what looked like actual meat, as opposed to reformed sludge. I was impressed. The falafel balls were nice — not as dry as some takeaway falafel. Tasty sauces on each, and plenty of fairly crisp and fresh salad. Nice bread as well — not too soggy or thin, but also not too stodgy. Overall, I’d give the meal full marks — it’s not gourmet cooking by any means, but the food had some character, and for a takeaway in temple bar(or anywhere) it would be unreasonable to expect a better standard. The premises itself was clean and tidy as far as I could see.

Don’t pass this place up as just another kebab shop! The guys working here are always extremely friendly and the food is way better than most places around, especially in Temple Bar area. It doesn’t matter if you’re in here for lunch or at 4am… it’s just as good and they’re just as nice. The felafel is pretty tasty(and I’m not a felafel fan), and the kebabs and chips are of a higher quality than a lot of kebab places. Also, it’s clean… which is always a big plus in a shop like Mezza. Definitely one of the best kebab places I’ve found in Dublin.

I found this place at the western end of Temple Bar, and, to my most pleasant surprise, found myself eating a plate of kubideh in Dublin one Sunday afternoon!

What? Hold on a second! A kebab shop at 4am on a Sunday morning with polite staff and nice food? I, like most Dubliners, tend to ignore anything in the Temple Bar area unless I am familiar with it or have been told good things about it. Cos as you might imagine Temple Bar is a tinchy tiny little bit of a TOURISTTRAP and last time I checked, I wasn’t a tourist.(Although try telling those Brazilian girls waving Irish Stew menus in my face in Temple Bar Square.) I fell out of the Dragon. It was nearly 4am. Gay Charlies was JAMMERS. My friend turned and said«Let’s go to Mezza!»… Sooo glad I did… I got the mixed meat kebab meal. Before that I got a friendly«hello, how are you, what can I get you?» This guy actually said to me «What salad and sauces would you like in your kebab?» That little bit of extra attention to detail and friendly chat really doesn’t take much effort at all and makes such a huge difference. The place was spotless(even the toilets!!! Which at 4am on a Saturday night is a miracle). All the staff were friendly including the security guard who went to get me some salt sachets for my chips. The kebab was fab. Everything from the meat, to the salad to the sauce to the beautiful freshly baked bread. Great kick off the chilli sauce too. Chips were actually pretty good in comparison to to a lot of kebab places. Zaytoon you can go and take a a running jump into the Liffey and stay there with your rude staff, average food and blatent disregard for your customers. Viva la Mezza!

This place is the best thing that has happened Parliament Street. I haven’t been to Zaytoons since Mezza opened. They serve great food, the staff in the place are so, so nice and it’s way cheaper than the competition next door, for the same thing.

Most underrated falafel place in town! The falafel is perfectly spiced, the hummus is unbelievable. Perfectly lemony, smooth and creamy. Can’t recommend this place enough. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out quickly and hot. It is where I always want to go when in the temple bar area.

Got two Falafel sandwiches to go with hot sauce and tahini. The service was quick and friendly. The sandwiches were good washed down with cheap plonk from Chile or South Africa in the hotel room. Belfast short bread men were then consumed.

Best doner/mixed kebab I’ve had aside from a proper German döner kebab. A bit on the pricy side, but it’s HUGE and delicious. Lunch specials are pretty good. The hummus/pita is also great, absolutely delicious.

Now I’ve heard a lot of people banging on about this place being the best kebab shop in Dublin so as because I lived in West Yorkshire on only filthy dirty Pakistani kebabs, I’d consider myself an authority on the subject so I HAD to try it out. Firstly, the staff are sound. Goes a long way with me, first impressions and all that. I ordered a lamb shish and The hummous. The latter was great but I wasn’t ecstatic about me kebab. 8 little cubes of meat just doesn’t cut it for me. Sorry lads but zaytoon wins this face-off.

Never noticed Mezza as it’s next to Zaytoon which has always been my middle eastern eatery of choice. However, on the advice of a friend I stopped in for dinner last week. The service was a little gruff but I guess we can chalk that up to cross cultural misunderstanding. The grub itself was very tasty and quite reasonably priced. I had a doner platter which was served with the most enormous pitta bread I have ever seen. The generous helping of sauce means that you run out of bread and sauce at the same time if your economical with your dipping. Love it when that happens!

Popped in here for lunch to go yesterday. Ordered a chicken shish sandwich for € 7.50. They have a compact menu but solid non the less. Spotlessly clean. Middle Eastern music playing and it was populated with the community eating their lunch. I was the only woman in there — rock on. The food was good, really fresh chicken and ordinarily I would leave it at 3 stars for that but what pushed it over for me is the chef/owner. He was so friendly. I had to wait a while to get my order and he gave me a free order of chips to make up for the wait. I’d try to order ahead if you can during the lunch period especially if you are pressed for time.

I have to agree with Laura here. Mezza outshines the bigger and busier Zaytoon next door as the place to go for a greasy post-pub grub or a quick lunch. That is, if happen to be walking up Parliament Street when hunger strikes. Wouldn’t embark on a long journey just to pick up my kebab from here, but their chicken shawarma will do the trick.

Next-door neighbour to the far better-known Zaytoon, this place is actually a better bet on the way home from a night out. It doesn’t get half as mental as Zaytoon, and I suspect that it’s probably less expensive. They serve the best drunken food there is too — kebabs, nominally Middle Eastern and generally consisting of meat, a bit of veg, soakage in the form of bread and some sauce. And it’s great. For what it is. I wouldn’t recommend it for a nice dinner out mind you. It’s definitely a 2am kind of place, but there’s plenty worse out there. And the staff are a laugh… went there one night, ended up partying with them the next! What more could you ask? Except maybe for plates. And less sleazy men. And a bed, so you don’t have to face the inevitable trip home afterwards.
