I am 100% sure that if I was ever to have been something in a past life, or will be anything in a future life(all karma intact), I will be a magpie. One of the sneaky ones that steals all the sparkly stuff — not one of the mean ones that flies at people’s heads.(It has happened, ok? *traaaumaaaa*!!!) Anyway, those sparkle-crazy tendencies are what inevitably draw me to the long line of antique and new jewellers on the first floor in Powerscourt. Now as much as I love to look, it seems at the moment that most of them are far out of my price range.(Woe is me…) ‘Most’ does not mean ‘all’ however. Enter, Monte-Cristo. A lovely little Aladdin’s Cave, full to the brim of all types of trinkets and jewelry, from costume to real antique. I found that there was a sufficient range in here to satisfy all tastes and pockets. I managed to find a really beautiful antique gold broach from around the 1900s which cost just under 100 yoyos. In most shops of similar style, they were all creeping into the 200s minimum. I also had a lovely sales lady who knew her way around the shop and suggested many items to me, patiently and considerately, until the right one was chosen. Lovely jubely.
