Local newsagents on Baggot Street, it does the usual stuff but seems to be the one newsagents in the area where you can get everything from lotto, to topping up gass/esb cards as well as bags for the local city council bin collection services. Staff aren’t your friendly eddie’s so in/out of here in 1 min is usually the order. But yes, if you’re after utility service tops ups, etc… This place is it!

This mysteriously named newsagents always had way too much space on its hands. They used to fill it up with all manner of zaniness, like internet cafés, pay phones and a novelty sized greeting cards area. Thankfully, Subway have come along and taken the issue out of their hands. That’s how much extra space there was, enough for a whole restaurant to cohabit comfortably. It does seem as though Subway are wearing the pants now they’ve moved in together. The giant pink ‘No.8′ sign is relegated to one window and now it declares ‘Subway’ over the door. We told you he was a good-for-nothing, chauvinist-pig, No. 8, but you wouldn’t listen would you?

I’m never quite sure what this business is called(whether it’s Payzone or No. 8) or what exactly their specialty is. The front of the store is a newsagency with a big selection of magazines, books, cards and cold drinks. You can do all the newsagency(ey) stuff like buy stamps and lotto tickets and pay bills here. They also have a coffee machine but I’ve never tried their coffee. Up the back is an internet café where you can’t save anything or plug in any devices(eg SD card from your camera or USB key — FRUSTRATING)! There are also some phone booths where you can buy a card and make cheap international calls. This place is always full of people and the staff are friendly and helpful enough(especially the blonde lady who works in the mornings) so worth poking your head in as there may be something of interest.
