As much as it can be useful to have a small hardware shop near the Grand Canal, I must say many products you buy here are much more expensive and in a very low quality. Some basic items are not in stock such as LED lamps. I really prefer ordering online or making effort to get to IKEA or the big shops in the city center.

It’s the closest local hardware shop. Most of the items in there are things you might need day to day and if you know where to look you might easily find it. I don’t go here often but times I have been there they have had pretty much what I was looking for.

This is a wonderful little D.I.Y store located on Pearse St. It caters mainly for the locals who live in the area. It is jam packed with everything you might need, but don’t fancy a trip into town to get. They stock everything from lightbulbs to washers for a tap and sell everything from watering cans to nails. They also have a key cutting service. It’s a joy to pass this place and see all the items on display outside the shop. Shops like this are a national treasure and hopefully will never disappear with the likes of the chain DIY stores spreading like wildfire. You always need places like this where the guys who actually work there, know a thing or two about DIY !
