Peckish is blessed with a prime location: right across the road from DIT Aungier St, it is the closest sandwich shop to a building that contains 5,000 hungry students(although now the Stationary Shop do sandwiches too, which I shall be sure to review later). Peckish is only a recent addition to the Aungier St mix, but before their arrival there was another sandwich place on the same site: Ziniho. Now, I’m tempted to give Ziniho the same two word review that Spinal Tap received for their 1980 Polymer release Shark Sandwich: «Shit Sandwich». For some reason, a number of my friends had been duped into thinking that Ziniho made nice food(I think that they lured people in with their home-made coleslaw), but their sandwiches were pure gammy. And they were continually running out of things like lettuce in the middle of the afternoon. I mean lettuce for Christ’s sake, the one thing that everybody is practically guaranteed to ask for in their sandwich. Sheesh! Anyhow, enough about Ziniho. In the last few months, Ziniho has morphed into Peckish, and this change has brought a number of improvements. Although the same people seem to run it(there has been no changes in staff), it seems to be a lot more competently run(no more of this running out of lettuce BS). And they now do burritos. And Peckish has luch deal: € 4.50 for sandwich of your choice and a soft drink. And as to the sambos: pretty good. Does the job. The only things stopping Peckish receiving a four star are the fact that there are no seats there if one was inclined to eat in, and some lingering resentment over Ziniho’s misdemeanors. But Peckish is definitely pretty alright.
