We came here for dinner as for my friends hen do and the staff treated her to a glass of bubbly to say congratulations. There was a big group of us and the set menu deal was just an easier way of paying for everything at the end! There wasn’t a huge selection on the menu but I still couldn’t decide what to go for! In the end I went for the Prawns to start and steak for main. They didn’t have skinny fries left which was fine because it meant I got to sample the truffle mash! It was defiantly an upgrade, I’d recommend just ordering some as a side! I also got food envy when the chicken wings came out, they were a huge hit on the table. We were way to full for desert and spent less than € 20 on two courses.

I was there last Sunday. It wasn’t the first, because I really like to have lunch there. The food is delicious, the waitress are so friendly and the place is nice. I don’t know why is so quiet. It os not expensive at all and it is really good. Always had good experiences there.

Great lil spot down the quays! I was on the bike and always find myself at odds trying to navigate through the one way streets around the Liffey. I did wind up to Phx Bistros doors after hopping along pathways and luas tracks though like the truly atrocious navigator I am. It was quiet being a Monday but surprisingly bustling by the time we were leaving later in the evening. Got a nice Mojito(for 5 euro may I add… bargain) to start off a week of fun and frolic. I got the chicken wings after having them recommended and they didn’t disappoint. Delicious sauce covering with tasty blue cheese dip. Portion was a bit on the small size but it was a starter so I won’t WINGe. Portion size redeemed with a hefty duck leg with sweet gravy to complement. To finish this gluttonous meal I just simply had to indulge in the peanut butter brownie. Nice and nutty sauce, perhaps could of been creamier but I’m being pedantic it was delish. Lovely staff really topped off a wonderful evening!

We had a wonderful dinner here! It’s right on the river and easy to find, a lovely restaurant that is tastefully decorated. I liked the wall of bottles that separated us from the front part of the place. It was quiet at first, but then started picking up, which is nice for a Monday night! Although it’s a small space, the tables are placed carefully so that patrons don’t feel too confined. I ordered the fish and chips. The servers offered me a variety of condiments, but I just chose vinegar and of course it came with tartar sauce. The greens on the side were decorated with a lovely dressing. The fish was tender and lovely– the chips could have been cooked a little longer but that’s just a personal choice, and flavour-wise they were great! One of us ordered the salmon risotto which looked amazing, and another got a well sized mojito for just a fiver. For dessert I went with the peanut butter and chocolate brownie. It was quite small but delicate, and the peanut butter flavour was very strong and worked well under the dollop of vanilla ice cream. It was all surrounded in a sweet, warm chocolate sauce. I could have eaten five of them! Lastly, the staff was extremely attentive and friendly. Our servers came to check on us regularly but not annoyingly so. It was clear that they appreciated the food they were serving, which is always beneficial. They made the extra effort to say goodbye and wish us well. An excellent dinner in a quiet area!

A nice spot for dinner and good prices too. The same deal run all week long and is really worth it. Also, cocktails for € 5! Now, I just checked the pictures I took of my dinner and they are terrible. Which is great news because it gives me an excuse to go back. The menu is not huge but it is still hard to choose as they have a good selection of dishes. As a starter, I got the Tian of Connemara crab. The crab was nice but the best part of the course was the Guinness bread. I could have eaten it on its own. As a main, I ordered the special of the day, smoked salmon risotto and it was really nice. Well cooked and not gready on the smoked salmon either. For dessert I went for the chocolate peanut butter brownie. Served with vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce, it was a nice balance of the peanut and chocolate flavours. The place itself is quite nice and cosy(a bit dark to take nice pictures aka first world problem) but the highlight is really the staff. So friendly and attentive. Apparently my risotto was not up to their standard so they made another one and apologised profusely for the(very short) delay. Yes, I will come back. I still have plenty of dishes to try out. I have an eye on the duck liver pâté and the crème brûlée.

I took a walk here just for the chicken wings. I was not disappointed. I was surprised at how well the Irish have done at taking this food I thought of as uniquely American and mastering it. I had garlic bread, chicken wings, and cheesecake. The most notable thing about the wings was the dipping sauce! It was remarkably good. The garlic bread was very good as well. The wings were very well cooked, they were well flavored, and despite being small the overall portion size was fine. I had a great lunch here, it was definitely worth the walk! The only negative point I have is the cheesecake. I love cheesecake, but the menu and waitress — she was excellent, by the way — didn’t mention that it was a chocolate cheesecake, and I hate chocolate. No big deal, I picked out some of the unsoiled cheesecake from the inner parts and it was fine. Not too much of it could be saved, though.

Wow what a find! Have walked past so many times without realising what a gem is inside! Stopped today for Sunday brunch — fabulous menu, lovely staff, choice of funky interior or, as we did, dining al fresco on the quays… Amazing crayfish salad, superb duck liver pâté with grape chutney, finger lickin chicken wings, lovely glass of chilled rosé and a rather decadent chocolate and peanut brownie with a gloriously rich«Essence» blend cappuccino! We will be back soonest cos the dinner menu sounds even more delicious(I want those fresh gnocchi with wild mushrooms, Parmesan, pesto and truffle cream sauce!!).

Our first night in Dublin we ate at the PHX Bistro. We had read good reviews and we’re not disappointed. We had wild garlic and potato soup. It was delicious. I had the catch of the day, grilled salmon with green beans and potatoes. It was wonderful! The service was great. The waitress was friendly and very helpful. Hope we can go back before we leave Dublin.

Can’t say enough good things about this place… Always Great food, great service, good value and lovely cocktails! For a fiver too! Went there on several occasions and everything was always top notch. Had our staff xmas dinner there too, 19 people, and the service was great! The staff did their best to accommodate us when the booking was made(asked another party to come in a bit later, so we can have more time)! A must try for all!

I had a really lovely lunch here just before the Christmas holidays. And it was so reasonable as well. So, let me begin. I was meeting a friend for lunch and he recommended PHX for lunch as he lives nearby. When I showed up to this sleek looking bistro, I was surprised to find a very reasonably priced lunch menu; 2 courses for € 14.95. Of course we were going to drink, so the bill was going to be about double. My friend and I split the chicken wings and salad to start. Both delicious. Definitely the right temperature spice-wise for the wings. He hates artichokes. I love them. So they were put in a side dish. I then had the fish and chips. This is where half the star is dropped. The fish itself was lovely, but it didn’t matter how much tartar sauce I used(home made-nice!) and salt/vinegar I added, I found it a bit bland. Very sad. Because it started off so well. Having said that, my friend’s burger looked yummy and I would go back for lunch or dinner to try some of the other lovely dishes.

We walked by this place loads of times because from the outside its sort of like that puppy in the dog shelter that gets overlooked yet has so much love to give once you realise beauty is but skin deep. I get what everyone is saying about the décor and until i decided to take a leap of faith i would have said similar but once you try the food here you will honestly accept that nobody goes to a restaurant to eat the furniture! They offer an all day deal with the option for singular, 2 course(€ 19.95) or 3 course(€ 22.95) and although it runs in on a good budget you do not feel like you are eating from a budget menu by any means. The service here from the get go was outstanding, the waitress was very friendly and attentive and even when they were closing at 9.30pm they did not try to push us out the door. With the starters and mains arriving as perfect as a new born baby it would have been rude not to have dessert which was belgian chocolate cheesecake. This I wholeheartedly believe contained real belgian chocolate adorned with a scoop of icecream perfectly perched upon a gingernut foundation. With this restaurant you get more than you pay for and I will definitely be back. I hope more people take the plunge because sometimes when we walk by here its pretty empty on weekday evenings, if people knew what culinary treasures lay buried in the kitchen they would literally be walking the plank over the river liffey to get in here.

Excellent lunch on my first day in Dublin. Traveling buddy found PHX recommended in some newspaper. Had a bit of a walk from our hotel, The Gresham. My friend(even though it was midday) thought the walk was a bit seedy. Being a New Yorker I don’t know what she saw that bothered her. Myself living in Chicago, I thought the alternating wealth and less than perfect store fronts was pretty typical of what I’m used to seeing back home. So maybe I wouldn’t make the walk at night? I don’t know enough about the area but I didn’t really think it was seedy. My friend disagreed for sure. All that aside, our destination was well worth the hike(and my friends nerves). They offered a pick 2 value menu, it made for an excellent value. I was quite pleased. I ordered the mackerel and dill fish cakes with remoulade and greens to start. Remoulade was very good, greens well dressed. Fish cakes were good but(please don’t make fun of me), maybe too fishy? The stand out was the entrée. Absolutely DELICIOUS haddock fish and chips with fantastic tartar sauce. My time abroad starting to run out, I was thrilled to finally order Fish and Chips and have them be just absolutely crazy delicious. Thank you! I had a nice white wine with lunch, Luis Felipe Edwards Sauv Blanc from Chile. My friend had a creamy chicken and garlic pappardelle. She said lots of garlic, but in a good way, the sauce was very good and the chicken well seasoned, moist and tender. Only complaint was maybe the pasta was a bit over cooked. She too had the fish cakes to start and also enjoyed. Definitely highly recommend for tourists. Especially if you’ve just come from London, the Euro(at that moment in time anyway) has a better exchange rate than the Pound and the pick 2 menu option is an extremely good value. Doesn’t break the bank and the food was delicious. Definitely a higher end restaurant at a great value. Also very near the Jameson Distillery, perfect lunch spot before a tour.

Wow. Some of the best food I’ve had this year in this spot. Who knew? Underneath it’s 90s style Celtic Tiger-alike décor, this place is an absolute find. Firstly, staff. Absolutely wonderful. Welcomed us practically with open arms when we walked in, the waitress was extremely personable, really knew her stuff, and just a genuine warm person who looks like she enjoys working where she does. A pleasure to deal with from the get-go. Then the food. Wow. We had two courses for 19 euro(or three for 23), and this goes all night — no early bird here. We shared gambas pil pil and chicken wings. Both were outstanding — bursting with flavour, and absolutely huge. I then had for my main, wild mushroom risotto. Again, fresh, light, flavoursome and delicious. They do caraffes of wine, we got the house red which I think may have been a Merlot, though don’t quote me on that. Either way it was delicious and we ordered a second. Now the décor and the outside. They need someone to work on them. It’s just not inviting or current enough. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing really offensive about it, it’s just that it really doesn’t accurately portray the wonders that await you inside, which is a real shame. More people should know about this place, and if they did a little work on it, this review could easily be a five star.

I’m just not mad about this place and I’m not sure why. The service is lovely and the food is decent, I think it might be the décor, which is not really conducive to a café-style long stay. It’s one of my local cafes but is probably one of the last on my list to go to. Wish I could my finger on why not.

A great place for a spot of lunch or brunch of a Saturday afternoon, a top selling point is that it’s open in the lull between dinner and lunch when all the other places around close! We got a great deal at € 15 each for two courses, along with a € 10 carafe of the house white I was a very satisfied customer! Although the atmosphere suffers a little with the lack of customers(possibly just due to the time we were there), the staff were a joy and the music was also quite good. I loved the food, the goat’s cheese bruchetta was a definite high point for me. I’ll be back, if nothing else just to explore more of the menu.

Good spot for a lovely lazy lunch overlooking the river… good value too with 2 courses at € 15 per head and a carafe of wine at € 10. Buffalo wings were almost on par E&C but were not as crispy. Burger was mighty tasty — a little overseasoned and would rather have rustic chips than skinny chips from the freezer. It was quiet when we were there but it was 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon in a not-so-convenient location… I do hope this restaurant sticks around though, to add to the likes of lovely cafes of Wuff and Seven Social in this neighbourhood.

I had been looking forward to trying PHX, but was a little disappointed when I got here. I had a voucher for the meal, so can not complain about the price, but if paying full price I would not have been happy. We were almost the only people in the restaurant, ok so we arrived at 6:30 on Saturday but by the time we were leaving it still didn’t seem to be filling up. Both my mate and myself got steak and chips. The steak was pretty good, however the chips were under cooked and a bit soggy. It must be said that the service was very good, but overall I was underwhelmed.

Just back from dinner in phx. Food is yummy and there’s a real eye for detail in ingredients and presentation. Wasnt expecting it to be so high quality for only 50 euro(1×2 course and 1×3 course and karaf of red wine) Lovely relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff who really seem to have an interest in their jobs and customers. Definitely a place to go!
