A brilliant place to get appropriate kit, be it for fishing or rough shooting. If they don’t have it, they will try and get it for you. One of the clerks there, Mary, is an absolute gem. She has imported my peculiar requests from Scotland without a quibble or trouble. She did not even attempt to overcharge me or rip me off at ‘townie’ prices. Rather, the prices were quite reasonable and the carriage always ended up less than quoted. I believe it’s the only place in city centre that carries original Hunter Wellingtons in stock. Whenever I need a rough shooting item, I always check Rory’s first, as it is not only convenient, but I’ve not been cheated or led astray.

Everyone knows someone who fishes with that deep reverence for the practice that lacks all humour. Thankfully those fellas aren’t waiting to bore you with«The one that got away» stories at Rorys in Temple Bar. With a serious selection of tackle, rods, gear and more(at prices that make fishing more a sport than hobby), there’s enough here for avid fishermen to stock their tackle boxes as well as entertain the browsers who poke a curious nose in through the door. Rorys is hard to miss with its massive windows crammed with fishing goods, but if you happen to be looking down while touring Temple Bar, just keep an eye peeled for the flag stone with an inlaid reel and trout… then look up.

I’m no fisherman, but Rory’s Fishing Tackle seems to have all bases covered when it comes to supplying hooks, rods, bait and fishing wear like thigh-high wellies and t-shirts with big fish on the front. The location in the centre of Temple Bar is a little surprising, nestled as it is amongst souvenir shops and touristy pubs and restaurants, but it seems to do well. They have an online shop too where you can order any product and have it delivered to anywhere in Ireland.

I’ve always wanted to know what the fuck is a fishing tackle shop doing in Temple Bar? The only water nearby is the Liffey but what madman would eat anything that’s come out of there? This isn’t so much a review as an open question
