Joined up for my first Secret Supper — took my daughter and my niece — we met the crew in Essex Street and were intrigued to find out what we had let ourselves in for — Emily made us welcome and as the numbers grew so did the anticipation — once we heard three Tapas restaurants we were delighted — Bob took control of our group — he added energy and fun and set us off on our journey — Italian to start– Spanish to follow and Cuban to finish with some dancing — good spread of food in each location with Zaragoza getting the vote as the best with Havana as the most fun and the most lively Good group of people from multiple different backgrounds and the format used to get people to know each other via questions in envelopes added to the fun — competitions as well fit usage of Twitter and Photos — verdict on the night — great fun — would do it again — well done Unilocal and to the team from Tapas Trail a big thanks as well — great idea

I was the kind of kid who tore the house apart for days before christmas, seeking clues to what might be in store, so i was seriously excited for this event. Impatient begger that i am, i turned up early and tried to pump information from a tightlipped Emily to no avail. Evenually 7pm came around and we began, discovering at the first venue, Zaragosa, that we were on a tapas trail! The first venue itself is bright and airy with very friendly helpful staff, the 3 veggie tapas offers were a bit meh unfotuneately. A green salad, patata bravas without the spicy sauce that they should have and to redeem the meal a delicious goat cheese samosa type dish with apple sauce. Yum! After about an hour it was off to venue number 2, Café Italliano, which ive passed 100 times but never tried. A stunning 1st floor bistro hidden behind a small door, i loved the lay out. Food was really fresh and tasty but did lack imagination. Once we dined, we were back on our feet to make our way to our final location, and my highlight, Havana. I can fault nothing here. Friendly staff, delicious fresh food, entertainment, gold stars all round! We got paella, wings, meatballs, bravas(with 2 sauces!) And churos to finish. What i could eat all stood as the best of the evening. I left with a full tummy and some new friends, brilliant event, and a special thanks to the friendly and informative trail organisers, i would certainly go to another of their foodie events as a different evening option, and recomend it to friends coming from abroad to show irish food scene can offer more than stew and chips!

I had a really great time last night at the Secret Supper. We went to 3 cool Tapas Restauraunts, Café Italiano, Zaragoza and Havana. The Unilocal guys, the guides and the resteraunt people were great. I have been to Havana before, but never to the other 2. Zaragoza will definitly be seeing me again.

I had a lovely evening meeting new people and trying out great food in City Centre/Temple Bar area! The best part was that this was different than a normal night out, that required zero planning on my part. All you needed to do was pay for the ticket and put the event in your calendar. It did not disappoint! We walked to 3 different locations, which didn’t take long at all! At each location we tried tapas portions of mains and actual tapas. First, we went to Zargoza where we were greeted by an energetic and helpful staff! They ushered us in to the beautifully decorated dining room and immediately offered us wine. We enjoyed meatballs, fried goat cheese and spinach, and chili prawns. The sauce for the meatballs were delish, but the fried goat cheese and spinach was a REAL crowd pleaser! The chili prawns were good, but I would have liked more spice! Second, we walk to Caffe Italiano where we found a tiny looking restaurant was actually a cute upstairs bistro. It was decorated with street art style wall designs. A cool gem, with an affordable menu! We had caprese salad bites, and bruschetta. It really wasn’t too creative, but it was fresh tasting. i was hoping for more flavor all around though! Third, we went to Havana Café — they are such a fun group of people running that restaurant! They has so many tapas they shared with us including 3 diff kinds of paella and churros with dipping sauce for dessert. They also had bachata dancers at the end for entertainment who were excellent. I had such a great time and will definitely be going back for second on the secret supper!
