Shay’s Costcutters Supermarket

I kind of wish there was a 3.5 star option… but yes, I am a fan of this place! It has a higgledy-​piggledy charm which reminds me of the days when shops didn’t all look the same. It’s got the usual local grocery shop staples of bread, milk, deli counter food etc. Nothing exciting there. The interesting thing for the sugar addicted though, is the ongoing discounted chocolate/​sweets selection! They load them up just inside the door and in the middle of the floor in big boxes. Wander in and you could be getting big bags of liquorice allsorts for € 1, 2 bags of Minstrels for € 2.50 or other sugary bargains. They also tend to get in random unusual sweet things-​picked up white chocolate covered Oreos in there which are much nicer than the regular ones. I wouldn’t go there just for those particular Oreos though. They are all in my tummy!
There’s also a post-​office in the shop and a small off-​licence section. What more could you need?
