Cheap can be construed in one of two ways: inexpensive or shoddy flippin’ workmanship. In the case of Shoe Zone in The Square, it works both ways. On a mission for winter boots in the midst of a crippling winter snow emergency, my shopping party quickly burned through the usual outlets with no luck. Exiting Debenhams we were drawn by lurid red sale signs to pick over the stock hanging and boxed here. Man made materials, flat insoles and a plethora of knock-off styles made us wish we’d kept walking. When trying on a pair of Fimberlands(knock offs of a big boot brand), even the € 20 price tag couldn’t convince us that these plastic hikers were worth bringing home.

Shoes from here give you owwwwies on your feet :-( See, the thing is they are really really cheap but you make up the price by buying insoles and plasters and foot spray and party feet things and any manner of things just to make these shoes comfortable enough to wear. Afte you have spent lots on all these shoe accessories you will then find that your new shoes will promptly fall apart at the most inapropriate moment. You might not even get as far as buying anything in here first though, the styles of these shoes are not the nicest really, they do their best but they just dont get it.

Shoe Zone have cornered the market when it comes to really cheap shoes, but after being sucked in a handful of times, eventually it sinks in that despite the really low price tags the shoes aren’t really that much of a bargain. Most of the shoes here are very poor quality and made with synthetic materials. If your feet are anyway sensitive they won’t like these shoes. On saying that if you’re looking for a cheap pair of shoes to wear while sitting at a desk or for one night out then you’ll find something here. The usually do a range of slippers and flipflops that are fine. More often than not I find myself tempted in shoe zone because of the really cheap prices but the shoes I buy there rarely get worn at all.
