Not having any gluten free products is one thing, but lying about it is another. I just had a short break between classes so I decided to go ask in that store if they had any gluten free bread to make sandwiches at the counter in the back of the store. The man behind the counter answered«yes of course !». I first was pretty impressed by this«of course» but I’ve trusted him since I find Ireland is a pretty understanding country toward celiac disease so far. So I took a sandwich there, as I ate it, the bread felt very soft compared to what I’ve tasted recently. But maybe they just had a very good brand that I did not know … Unfortunately, I understood this softness a few minutes later when I started being sick. To be really sure about what just happened, after throwing the second half of this sandwich away, I got back to the spar, and asked to someone else(who I think was a manager ?) if they had gluten free bread were, to what she answered that no they do not have any gluten free bread. This is a real big deal, lying about their product to the detriment of the health of the client is unacceptable. If you’re not sure of the products you sell why not just answer«I don’t know» instead of «of course», or even«take a look at the ingredients by yourself if you want» if you don’t want to take any responsibility. The man behind the counter today openly lied to me, this is a real danger to people health. If i had an allergy and not«only» the celiac disease, this could have killed me.

A-OK is right. It’s a Spar and it does it’s Spar thing well. It’s has all the things you conveniently need nearby, but charges you for it. It is handy for the ATM when the AIB machine across the road is out of order(which is a lot recently). I go hear mainly for the ATM and the occasional lotto ticket. I might get something from their hot counter if I am hungover enough and on the way to work.

Ever since I moved in my new place across the street, this has been«my» Spar. I go there for cigarettes, last minute/late night groceries or when I’m being lazy. Last month I bought some cheddar and as I got home and opened it there was a stench unlike any cheese I’ve ever tried, I looked at pack and it was way passed the expiration date. I was a bit frustrated and I took it back, they gave me a refund, end of story. A week later I bought some bread and when I opened the bag to make a sandwich the slices were rock hard, so I checked the date same thing happened again. The worst part is that they weren’t even apologetic about it, I felt like I was bothering them. I haven’t gone back there since.
