This place did my wedding cupcakes so I obviously loved it and loved their cupcakes(many years of sampling!). But alas, a few years on they are just not as good as they used to be. Stopped in to pick up some twice recently and on both occasions cupcakes were a day old, which is a disappointment for a bakery as you’d expect fresh. Cupcakes as light fluffy or fresh as they used to be. Pity. Get the feelings its quieter now and business has not picked up. Some shelves kind of empty and it doesn’t have the feeling of a bustling business with heaving shelves. Need to up their game.

Got some yummy cupcakes in here, they have a LOT of variety! They were really good! My fav was the vanilla sprinkles one with a 99 flake on top! Got a coffee to go, it was good too. Staff were really nice!

Being searching for a good bakery in Dublin for a while. Decided to try here today and wasn’t disappointed. Friendly staff and good tasting cupcakes. Bought a coffee too which was good but very very hot. It’s a shame there’s no indoor seating but then again it’s a corner bakery.

Not good value for money — I purchased a really small chocolate cake(6 inch diameter 1.5 inch in height) in The Corner Bakery and I was charged € 2 for narrow faint writing to be put on the cake. I felt that as a regular customer € 9 for this cake was excessive.

Great for pastries and cakes. However the coffee must be the worst in Dublin and only suitable for watering the plants.

If you have a sweet tooth you’ll absolutely love this place. Great for croissants, pastries, cakes etc but their stand-out treat is their Belgian Waffles — best I’ve had in Dublin! Their coffee lets them down but the friendly service makes it an enjoyable place to get your sugar fix…

«Ireland’s First Cupcake Bakery» boasts the sign. Which is a bit like saying you were the first farm to catch Foot and Mouth, or the first bank to offer 110% mortgages. In case you’re wondering, I’m not a fan of cupcakes. Even more inexplicable is that the Corner Bakery has so much more to offer than cupcakes. The fruit crumble slices and scones are excellent examples of this: tasty, simple, cheap. The place seems to have a pretty devoted following as well, if the guy in the queue ahead of me is anything to go by. Seeing him drag his bodyweight in bagels out of the shop makes me think I should have tried more of their savoury options.

I don’t know about you but I prefer my scones in triangle form rather than a circle. It equals more eating mass in my opinion. € 1 a scone. € 1.20 a coffee. What is not to love? Shall I gush more? Oh OK. What you don’t get from your chain store monsters is the continuity of community, you get the continuity of anonymity but you save money they scream! Well I would rather feel part of something by chatting with the owner rather than being a number on the trend graph of the other. All that prior paragraph equates to is this; for the 10 minutes I was there in this very tiny bakery, several folks came in of differing ages but all bought and all chatted at ease with the owner. At one point the credit card machine gave up and the owner said, ‘Sure pop back in, in a while with cash. No bother — will do.‘ Would a chain store do that? Of course not because you are just a number.

«What flavour are those cupcakes with the macarons on them?» «Those are macaron-flavoured cupcakes.» «Fair enough. So what flavours are the macarons?» «Looks like we have two there: coffee and chocolate.» I was sorely tempted to, but didn’t say, «Okay, so what flavour does that make the cupcakes?» Signs outside and in proclaim Corner to be Ireland’s first cupcake bakery. I must have bought cupcakes from that first batch, so old did they taste. One Oreo and one macaron cupcake were stale and dry, with a pasty Oreo on bland chocolate(shouldn’t an Oreo cupcake be Oreoey inside and out?) and a stunning coffee macaron on another pretty awful chocolate cupcake. I wonder if they sell those macarons separately. I like the atmosphere, and I loved the mini mince pie they gave me for 80c: crumbly and flaky crust, dusted with powdered sugar, filled with spicy fruits. Also, their plum bar hit all the right notes for me and even changed dear BF’s mind on the subject of fruity crumble-like bars. They have just started selling a few cheeses(two moderately stinky French varieties — St Marcellin and Picodon — and an Irish-made porter cheddar). It might just have been an off day, but two different cupcakes coming out with the same result doesn’t sit well with me. If they truly do have the boiled bagels John S mentioned and I failed to notice, shame on me and I will go back for those. Just not for the cupcakes.

There’s an ad on now that asks if you dream in chocolate? Certain individuals I know look at me and laugh every time that comes on … I have a very well known weakness for sweets. The Corner Bakery is a wonderful shop that feeds this addiction. Ok maybe not so wonderful when my jeans are getting a bit snug! But trust me their baked goods are absolutely delicious and always fresh, and if you’re really lucky still warm fresh out of the oven.

The lovely fresh all butter croissants are only € 0.50 each, fat on the tummy, skinny on the wallet! And the chocolate birthday cakes that they do for children are big, tasty and great for adults too!

Handy and local the corner Bakery as well as being my local is the only bakery in Terenure at the moment. Its also tiny but manges to cram in lots of good stuff. As well as breads, cakes, scones and pastries they also do birthday cakes and old school boiled bagels. Their cheese cake is also pretty legendary. Great for a Saturday morning treat, get in to the place early as they sell out pretty quickly and expect to queue on busy mornings.
