The Granary Cafe

This lovely little coffee shop has been closed now for the past week or so. Here’s hoping it’s just a holiday, as they do a lovely reasonable coffee, have the nicest staff and is a great little place to sit in the evening for a chat with a glass of wine. Not to mention their tasty & cheap veggie salads & food.

This is a friendly little café in Temple Bar. Called in for breakfast today; even though there was a bit of a queue, the service was still prompt and courteous. I only ordered a coffee and some toast, (both were pleasant), but there is an extensive menu of things that are fancier, like berry porridge and fries and things. Inside seats about ten, however there is a covered smoking are outside which is a great little people-​watching spot. They don’t hurry you out when you’ve finished your food either, which is always attractive.

Had a delicious soya blended iced mocha today from the Granary Café. The server was friendly and told me all about the three kinds of chocolate he was using and why he was going to use the milkshake machine instead of a normal liquidizer. A tasty way to deliver 2 shots of espresso to my bloodstream!
Waiting for my coffee, I was drooling over the amazing salads in the deli case. I had no idea it was such a cozy little corner in there!
I plan on heading back first for a lunch salad and then another time to check out the wine + tapas served till 10pm. I can’t wait!

Friendly little independent place in Temple Bar.
Great morning deal of a coffee and a scone/​muffin/​pastry for 3e50 — same price as some of the chain cafés, but everything is much fresher and of a higher quality (especially the mixed berry scones, which are seriously tasty).
For such a tiny place they do an impressive array of food, with big breakfasts, all sorts of sambos, afternoon teas, salad bar… I could go on.
As I say, it’s small with not much seating room inside, but it has a nice enough little pavement seating area which catches the sun/​wind/​rain nicely.
AND they have animal shaped salt and pepper shakers — LITERALLY what more could you want?

Formerly hosting the West Coast Coffee Company, this cute little corner of the Granary (that’s the building’s name!) in Temple Bar has just been reopened as a lovely comfortable and wholesome café. It’s a bit cramped, but with comfy seat and cushions scattered everywhere, it’s the perfect place to curl up with a coffee, a sandwich and a good book. I had the soup of the day (Mediterranean veg) on my first visit, with a hot chocolate for dessert and during my second visit with the Saint, I had a chicken, mozzarella and pesto sandwich and she had soup and a roasted vegetable and feta sandwich. The soup was a tasty, freshly made clear soup with perfectly cooked vegetables (not crunchy but not soggy) and the hot chocolate hit the spot. The service is a bit odd as I’m not entirely sure if it’s waiter service (as we were ignored for ages on my second visit and decided to grab a menu and go to the counter to order) but the staff are very pleasant. Sandwiches come on crusty white bread –yum– and the pesto in my sandwich was gorgeous. Oh and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. It’s very small inside, with room for maybe 20 tops, but there’s an outside seating area of about the same size too. It’s lovely to see little independent coffee places come back to Temple Bar. Yay!
