One of the best and most comfortable hostel experiences I had. Quiet, clean, private, homey, and affordable. If I ever find myself in Dublin, I’ll be at the Holyhead. On the way here from the airport, our taxi driver warned us how dangerous the street of our hostel is(on the North side of Dublin). During the trip, I noticed that the typical angry Irish lad is quite similar to a normal Italian. We had a splendid time. Getting a room is a breeze, you reserve either a private room or a common room(of 8 or more people) through a third-party reservation website. Here’s my only scrutiny: contacting the hostel is difficult… emails got lost, phone calls weren’t picked up, and I wasn’t able to change my reservation until the last minute. We didn’t need a refund, but it would probably be difficult because of the third-party involvement. Tip: double-check your itinerary!(There’s a reservation booking fee added to the cost of the stay) The man who checked us in was nice enough to wait past the hostel’s closing time because of our delayed flight. We appreciated the efforts to decorate the private room; what’s a better welcome than a picture of Audrey Hepburn over your bed? We had our own sink, a common toilet closet in each hallway, and a shower area upstairs. Every space had green wallpaper, plenty of toilet paper, and an ample amount of Irish magazines with happenings/activities around the city. The bulletin behind the front desk has useful flyers and events posted. We used an advertised shuttle to take us to the airport on our last day. We enjoyed our stay, loved the city, and had a great trip… at least I did, after 5 pints and live music at the Workman’s Club.

Confusingly, this Bed and Breakfast, though called Holyhead is neither in Wales, nor near the ferry that takes you there! It’s name rather is from its founding a long time ago for sailors that had arrived in from Holyhead. It’s conveniently located near Busaras and Connolly Station and so it’s a good port of call if you don’t want to have far to head when you’re travelling to other parts of Ireland the next day. The rooms are small, but they offer private double and twin rooms. They rooms are quite clean and not bad at all for the low prices you pay for them. Also a big bonus is that breakfast is included in your room rate saving you even more cash!
