When we walked in the place was super cute and the staff was very welcoming. The waiter was super friendly and was joking around with us. The prices are unbelievable. They have specials until 7pm which include a drink. I had the Guiness pie and it was the best thing I’ve had here so far. This place is a must if you are here in Dublin.

I love the live music here. This place was right across from my hotel so it was convenient for me. I recommend this place to all Best Western Skylon hotel guests, haha. Prices are decent here. Cool shots and nice beer selection. ONE thing to be cautious of… is the candle on the table. The table tops are high and the candles are low… There was no were to hang your stuff so I left my new purse on the table– It got burnt when drinks were being placed on the table. I was probably a bit clumsy but just be careful :)

Great pub. I’ve been coming here for years. Always a fun crowd and the food is good quality pub grub and it has a reasonable price tag too.

Visiting Dublin for just a few days, I stopped here as I just arrived at lunch time. Food is very good and portions are fair compared to price. Service is good, and so is the atmosphere. TVs and WiFi are available to keep you entertained.

A great spot in Drumcondra to meet with friends and have some pints. Food is good but it’s not their greatest asset. I had a nice meal, beef curry, portions were were very generous.

Definitely nothing exciting. Slowest service I’ve ever experienced. Saw people walk out they were waiting that long. I would recommend the warm chocolate brownie though, tasted delicious.

Excellent local pub to meet the local Irish youth. Beer, mixed drinks and bands make for a good time. I don’t know anything about the food, so don’t ask.

I go there regularly with a group of mates and every time we go we have a great time. It’s good that they have live music on for a while, it gets people up dancing and singing along. The food is good and it is reasonable priced. The staff in there are so nice and friendly(including the bouncers). It is a place to go to have a few quiet drinks with friends and still have a good time.

A well furbished large local pub to enjoy a pint of whatever tickles your fancy. They have a fair amount of beers on tap from local microbreweries, the big hitters and a few craft brews which is good. Service is… its not bad its just just non existent. The pints are a bit on the pricey side. May have to do with the Best Western across the road. A covered smoking area with a heater out back. What more can you ask for really?

Didn’t eat here, but the food looked good on other people’s plates. Nice atmosphere. Guinness was good. Lots of TVs. A bit pricey, but the lunch specials looked like a good deal.

Eat here quite regularly. We’ve sampled most of the menu & it’s always quite good. Service is always friendly & attentive. It’s pretty good value too. Their sweet & spicy wings are excellent but I’m convinced they’re microwaved.

I had a great first experience in the Ivy! Staff were friendly and efficient and portion sizes were generous! I had wings and they were so good, definitely a great spot!

Good selection of big-brand beers(standard ones) and a very good burger. I have only been there once, but the interior is nice and the staff is friendly. Looked that way as if it would attract a more younger crowd.

A really nice bar… that is trendy, fun and full of surprises. The food menu is fab with plenty of choice, a fully stocked bar with drinks i’ve never heard of and offers on drinks that can’t be beat. While it is a little more expensive than your average local, it is much cheaper than the city centre. The bar also offers a night of entertainment, from a cinema night up to an up and coming band playing for your enjoyment… on last«Arthur’s Day» The Script turned for a sing song… so just shows how this bar is becoming a very successful rival for a night in town!

After a couple of crazy days in Temple Bar, I was looking for a less hectic place to batter my liver. Enter The Ivy House — where good food makes it into my belly just as quickly(just not as often) as good beer. It’s outside of city centre, yet only the simplest 15 minute bus ride away. They don’t know how to pour a Paulaner, and really lack the glassware(I’m not trying to be a snob, but I imbibe the stuff regularly in Munich), but they do pour a mean Guinness pint, and they have a broad selection of other beers from Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, and even some Budweiser, if you’re into that. In the back is a beer garden/patio/grill area. During sporting events, they’ll grill you a burger to order, or other grill foods. I was actually supposed to watch the GAA semifinal between Maigh Eo and Dublin, but due to the lingering effects of my whiskey research the night before, missed the whole game and arrived just after. Yet. the bar was still full of happy supporters of both teams(one team obviously happier) jovially making mirthy merry with their pint-lubricated brethren. Food is really good, portions are generous, and public transport stops almost right outside the door. I recommend The Ivy House to any Dubliner, but especially to any visitor who wishes to get off the beaten path and experience a little more of the city.

Movie night on Tuesdays at the Ivy = top idea! I had never tried the movie night here, which runs every Tuesday, is free, and is typically listed in the movie listings on and elsewhere. What they do is block off a dedicated area for watching the film of the week — an area down the back of the pub, that they arrange with couches and tables so that it’s set up for a comfortable watching experience. Nice job. Anyway, this week I had the chance to go for the first time. 4 of us went, and none had been before. I should mention that the film in question was absolutely perfect: 21 Jump Street. Its a great setup: we ordered food, beers, were issued with the kinda cool wireless headsets they give you so that you can have a clutter free audio stream for the movie, and off we went. Beers in hand, the movie kicked off, and then the food arrived a while later. 40 quid got us all main courses and our first beers — beer, food and a movie for a tenner: what’s not to like? Highly recommended and I will be back!

The best rugby bar on the northside to watch a match by a country mile! The Ivy house also provides great drinks specials, something different every night, a great menu, quick service, and is located on the Drumcondra road just off Griffith Ave so its well serviced by public transport. The pint of Guinness is great, and they also do pitcher specials starting at € 10 allowing you to add their spicy chicken wings for a mere € 5, so 3pints and a bowl of chicken wings for € 15! VALUE! The Ivy house beats local bars such as Quinns(the crèche) and the porterhouse north(‘howayaaa! heaven) hands down. The bouncers are great, there is never any trouble and If you want to get away from the more sporty, youthful ambiance of the lounge/restaurant there is a quite bar, and a nice heated beer garden on offer too.

In a previous life this was a local to scare away any strangers, today however it is a youth-friendly, trendy, dark über bar with restaurant attached. As far as the food goes they do a mean Caesar salad. As for the bar itself, the drinks ain’t cheap but the company is convivial. Down the front, the low rise seating(chairs and couches) lends itself to conversation. In the main body of the pub, it’s barstools and high tables all the way though you are closer to the bar. Weekends are noisy in a good way, with a DJ playng to the crowd and if you’ve spare cash in your pocket then there are paintings on display for sale. Not sure about the wall mounted rugby jerseys though — an anomaly in Drumcondra.
