I was invited to an event in the meeting house and I have to say that I discovered a great place in Dublin Temple Bar. The decoration, the lights and the music in the right level: altogether make you feel comfortable and invite you to enjoy the dinner and the company. They have a good selection of cocktails and a good menu, I liked the food very much: I got rips, tempura prawns, mini hamburgers, vegetables with tempura and chips(done in a very tasty way, completely different to other, but give them a try, are delicious). Waiters and waitresses are very kindly, explaining all the time what was in the dish or in the cocktail. Lovely people there. I promise, there is an entry, but at the other corner, you will get it if you visit the place.

What a great venue, while i was here loads of people mentioned it is also good for brunch as well as drinks on an evening The cocktails were delicious, so much so that i had to force myself to slow down the slurping as i knew it could enter dangerous territory if i kept drinking them as quickly as I shouldn’t. Light bites was provided as part of the event and while I didn’t indulge too much, what i did eat has me curious for more, now that the meeting house is on my radar i will definitely return to sample it further. Great night

My friend and I had dinner and drinks here over Christmas. We both loved it. The service was excellent, the tapas portions were large and very tasty(unfortunately I didn’t take any photos). The atmosphere was relaxed. I will definitely be back.

I have been to this place a bunch of times for late night drinks with friends and its always great. The cocktails are beautifully crafted and the bartenders are friendly, helpful and chatty. I went for brunch recently and the food was really good. I think there are better places for brunch food in Dublin but the atmosphere in the Meeting House is really cool which will have me back again

I like… I want to love but at the moment, I just like! Visited here for brunch on a Sunday morning; food was great however a little on the small side so particular the hungry hippo(sorry, meant husband) had to go for 2 dishes so does work out a little on the expensive side however if you are checkin in on Unilocal,as Emily mentioned there is a great check in deal however prepare yourself for a little fuss from the staff who weren’t quite sure how to work it so I think, they could do with working on that aspect, was all a little uncomfortable when it came to billing time even though before I ordered, I asked was the checkin offer valid. Drinks menu here is great, it’s got a full bar with some stand out cocktails on offer too. The venue is awesome, very cool indeed and has great portion of outdoor seating which they have covered during winter and I’m excited to check this place out next summer and sit in that sun trap that they’ve have. It’s a really cool place that is bringing locals back into the Temple Bar area again, so top marks for that!

TOPCHECKINDEALALERT! Either a free glass of Prosecco or a dish worth 9.99 for free with a Unilocal check-in. Now that’s my type of deal! I came in here on Sunday for brunch with a few friends and we each got nearly the price of the food off our bill which was incredible. I got French toast with caramelised banana and pork belly for example which did me as I was concentrating on the cocktails. Now of course we notched up a fair whack anyway as we were there on the cocktails for hours, but it’s a nice bonus getting something so substantial for free, and the cocktails are most certainly worth every penny. My recommendation — start with the breakfast martini and move on from there! Oh, and make sure to get the sweet potato fries as a side — so thin cut they’re nearly like crisps. Unreal!

Temple bar surprised me once more. More and more good places around. This one was good, actually very good. Something bit bigger than tapas but smaller than main(actually, you can find a main this size in some places). 54 € for 6plates and I think(correct me if I’m wrong) Sunday it’s a day when you can have very same combination for 34 €. It’s good because it’s not boring. We had mini burgers each(two mini burgers with nice soft bit sweet bun and sauce on the side), very soft and juicy mini steak with no fat cooked medium, crab salad, prawn salad(I wasn’t crazy about them) and prawn curry which was very tasty as well. I will definitely come back!

Better late than never on this review! The brunch Unilocal and M.H.S. set up last weekend was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be re-returning to the Meeting House Square when the purse allows it. The bf and I were very fortunate to get two invites after RSVPing for the event(Thanks Unilocal!), so we braved the storm, thunder, lightening and locusts(end of days) weather on Saturday and made it to M.H.S very wet, cold, and hungry. However, once in, we were placed under a heater(cue the sound of angels singing), and dried off relatively quickly, most of our worries and storm related traumas eclipsed and forgotten with the emergence of the M.H.S Bloody Mary. For the record, I didn’t think I was a fan of Bloody Marys -(Maries?)-, but Oh. My. God. I am a fan of this one. The M.H.S. uses Sriracha sauce in their version of the cocktail rather than purely Tabasco, and the effect is DELICIOUS and hot hot hot! Possibly a bit brutal for some others’ senses, but if you like spice, burning, nose tingling, black pepper and booze, this is definitely something to check out. I would highly recommend M.H.S.‘s drink list as we’ve been once before and the Zombie(terrifying that this is legal. 5 shots of Rum in a tankard glass, delicious but did make my face go numb the last time we went) was heavenly and packed a punch. Returning to the actual brunch, the reason why I ended up giving M.H.S. 3 stars is because our first solid(as opposed to liquid) meal wasn’t fully cooked and it felt like the dish was trying a bit too hard to be unique, without factoring in how this would affect some flavours. The dish was glazed pork belly with poached eggs and a coconut bun(think eggs Benedict if Benedict decided to have an identity crisis and go native). The glazed pork appeared to be basically very good quality rasher wit an AMAZING coriander marinade or something, the coriander was just perfect. However the eggs and coconut bun let the dish down hugely. The coconut bun simply had no place with the dish, it affected the flavours of everything else in a negative way and overpowered the dish. The bun in texture also was rather unpleasant, seeming to be undercooked and more pasty and tacky than like a bun or muffin. I think the M.H.S should drop the coconut bun, or at least make it less thick and less coconutty. My 1st egg was fine, cooked to perfection –that brilliant level of almost over cooked but the yolk is still yummy state-, alas my second egg was a vessel for salmonella, completely raw on the inside with albumin tendrils attaching itself to my fork, making me feel quite sickly(I have a thing about raw egg. A bad thing). A visit to the bathroom unfortunately occurred shortly after due to my body’s paranoia. Of course my next experiences were dampened by this unfortunate killer egg incident and I did struggle to rediscover my appetite. I unfortunately must admit that I wasn’t really impressed with the next cocktail bar how subtle the flavour of the booze was.(A note, M.H.S is a place where drinks definitely sneak up on the drinker, they are made very well and the flavour tends to mask the presence of a shedload of booze). As for the blue berry pancakes, unfortunately they just didn’t really taste much of anything bar sugar.(And more coconut was snuck in, via the natural soya yogurt side dip. Didn’t do it for me.) To be honest, if I was reviewing M.H.S. just based on the event, it gets 2 stars(the staff and the Bloody Mary getting a star each), but I know the place can be much better than what I experienced last weekend. Maybe they’re not fully ready to roll out the brunch menu as it just seems some stuff just clashes in flavours and not in any enjoyable way, but if you were looking for a place with a decent selection of dishes and some fairly good fish dishes, I would recommend M.H.S. but personally I feel that they use too much soy sauce in many dishes(making things VERY salty) and that the expense of the food is not matched in the quality of what you get. Also the service,(some select staff), are blatant in their disdain for customers and once you pay your bill the smiles disappear and one feels rushed out the door. If you’re looking for good cocktails and some good jams, M.H.S. on a Thursday night is definitely the place to be, especially if you’re the smoking area socialite sort. I just don’t feel like the food is up to standard yet. (And unisex bathrooms in a cocktail bar? Surely that invites some trouble and some ‘passion’…Is that why so many of the toilet seats are broken?) I’m clearly ambivalent about how I feel about M.H.S. Half of me really likes it and the the other half can’t stand it as it feels like it’s more a ‘place to be seen in’ as a opposed to a place to enjoy yourself in. I’d recommend it maybe for a girls or lads night out but for me I don’t consider it a romantic dinner type affair. I guess the place just tries way too hard?

After trying it for the first time I can say that I have a new favourite brunch place to go. Had the Burmese brunch there and I couldn’t be more delighted about it. Starting with a spicy Bloody Mary, followed by a with poached duck eggs with bacon, toasted coconut bun and Hollandaise sauce. After that we had a sweet Breakfast Martini with blueberry pancakes. An amazing experience I will repeat soon!

Waking up and going out of the house on a stormy Saturday morning was proved worthy of this brunch. The eggs were one of the best I have tried so far, the yolk texture was perfectly creamy, I was sad to finish them! The pancakes were soft and not too thin as I often find them. To drink tried the bloodymary and was tasty as can be but too spicy for me. The martini with orange jam is now on my list of favourites.

This is based on the Burmese brunch served here(thanks Meeting House for treating us to it) On a wet and windy wintery Dublin day, it was nice to be ushered in to The Meeting House, and handed their twist on a Bloody Mary cocktail. A quick explanation of how the restaurant put a Burmese twist to classic brunch menu(including use of different spices, and lots of fresh foods) soon has us all salivating awaiting our food. Starting off with delicious glazed pork belly with poached duck eggs, toasted coconut bun and smoked Hollandaise sauce, followed up by blueberry pancakes, with fresh berries, infused syrup and coconut soy yoghurt, and rounding it off with my favourite, a Breakfast Martini(contains gin, Cointreau, lemon, egg whites and marmalade), it was definitely a meal to remember. Cool artwork, glitterball, live DJ and great company also added to the atmosphere. Well worth a look next time you’re looking for a new brunch location

We went on a Sunday where everything is 6.66. Great value. Cocktails were Delish. The tapas were nice. Nothing is be rushing back for. Wasn’t impressed with the sweet potato fries. The tuna tacos were fold but tasty. They’d no buns left for the mini burgers so we couldn’t try those. The curry however and rice was tasty. We got 6 between 2 of us and 4 cocktails it was enough to fill you for dinner. Worth a visit. Try the coconut chicken curry for sure

While I still love the food and drinks here, my last 2 visits have annoyed me to the point of updating my review! Visited with a friend. We were here for hours. Spent a LOT of money on cocktails. The waiter refused to acknowledge the Unilocal check in offer when we went to pay our bill at the end of the night: claimed he knew nothing about it. It was quite awkward but it was eventually sorted out . Most recent visit. The waiter remembered me, of course he did, the difficult one who quibbled over our 2 free glasses of prosecco. He remembered my favourite cocktail. Great. Off to a good start. Cocktails are all € 6.66 on a Sunday. What they don’t tell you is that if the waiter recommends a cocktail off menu, in fact, insists the one that you ordered on the menu is not as nice as this one, that it will be TWICE the price. We had two cocktails each. We ordered espresso martinis. Again, off the menu. But no mention of them being priced differently. So 2 drinks each that should have come to € 13 each cost us almost € 40 Disappointing to leave feeling unhappy from a place that is one of our go-To food and drink choices.

Cocktails are great! Imaginative and well made. Can’t comment on the food as I haven’t had any, but really like the atmosphere in The Meeting House. Staff are super friendly & welcoming. Nice area to sit outdoors too, good spot for a bit of people watching :)

Can’t beat a random wander around Dublin for finding your new favourite spots! Was heading towards a bus home and strolling slowly when we heard some very cool jazz wafting through the alley by Essex Street, and of course just had to follow and find out where it was coming from! So we happened upon the Meeting House, and ended up staying out for another two drinks! This place is something totally different in Dublin, very continental feeling and yet still very Dublin. There’s a gorgeous atmosphere in the place, dark and sparkling and made altogether more sexy by the presence of this fantastic jazz band playing woozy versions of all the modern classics. The female servers are effortlessly cool, the males are funky and hip. There’s a creative and not-completely-extortionate cocktail list and what looked like an incredible Asian-fusion tapas menu. I’m sad that I was quite stuffed on this particular visit because I would easily have eaten everything on that menu! We just stuck to pints for this visit, so I can’t say much on food or drinks, but the service, venue and everything else was just brilliant. Will be back to give that fifth star very soon!

Good location right in Temple Bar without the excessive hustle bustle with a lovely outdoor seating area. We only ordered drinks which were quite pricey — € 9.50 for a large glass of wine, and just under € 6 for a pint but then you remember where you are in town! You do get treated as second class customers when the waiters realise you are not ordering food(after repeatedly asking you 5 times in half hour) and without a word, plonk a reserved sign on your table and give you the bill without us asking for it. Thanks but no thanks — I can make up my own mind if I want to order food and not be not-so-subtly chased out for my decision.

Meeting House Square is a really nice part of Temple Bar, with the giant umbrellas to keep the rain off it’s often used for cultural events in the city. The Meeting House is right beside these umbrellas on Sycamore Street. Some of you may be familiar with Eden and Nede restaurants which were housed here, but the folks at The Meeting House have gone for a completely different feel for their Burmese restaurant. It’s a large spacious restaurant with a couple of separate areas, the main bar and restaurant downstairs, another bar area upstairs and then a small mezzanine which would be ideal for a private group. The walls are decorated with some amazing art and there’s a pretty cool vibe going on! I’ve got to start by saying how friendly & helpful(and attractive!) the staff were. We were seated and our waiter explained the menu to us … it’s done tapas style, but slightly bigger portions. So LOTS of choice and recommended about 2 dishes per person plus sides. I’ll be honest, I hadn’t a clue what Burmese cuisine was — but was happy out to see the choices on this menu! I also noted that they have a few veggie options and they told us they can make some of them vegan and gluten free upon request. While we’d usually share everything with a menu of this style, I’m on a no meat buzz at the moment and S wanted some red meat so we decided on 2 dishes each and to share the 2 sides. I’m a tuna fiend, any time it’s available I’ll get it so my only trouble was deciding on the sashimi on it’s own or the sashimi tacos! In the end I went for the tacos and the Prawn Coconut curry and S went for the Chicken Coconut Curry and the Pepper Crusted Steak and we got sides of Asian Sweet Potatoes and Steamed Brown Rice — just for healthiness sake like! We didn’t have one single complaint on the food — the curry dishes were deliciously creamy and my prawns were soft and fresh, the tuna tacos were out of this world and S was equally as pleased with the meat options. We took a little break here to sip over our Malbec and decide on our dessert… as ever we wanted a taste of everything so decided on the selection of 4 mini desserts, a little chunk of Orange & Almond cake, a small coconut panna cotta, a zingy sorbet and a luscious chocolate truffle… all delish. We finished up with a couple of cocktails and were pretty delighted to be waved off with a little goody bag of truffles! I was super impressed with The Meeting House — especially considering it’s still early days for them. With the venue also being a late bar it’s one of those spots you don’t need to move from for the evening — I’m already planning my return visit!

Wow, just wow. The former Eden has been repurposed as a first rate restaurant and bar venue which finds the perfect balance between funky and functional. The food is tasting plate style with an excellent array of choices, all of which come in at € 9.99 per dish for individual choices, or 6 for € 45, we tried a good mix including both prawn and veg tempura, wok greens, tuna sashimi and tofu scallops, which were the only less than incredible dish, but still perfectly tasty. For desert we chose the selection plate, the perfect option for someone with horrific food envy, and this too was divine, including a passion fruit cup I wanted to lick clean. Drinks are strong, but offer a limited selection in comparison to the other cocktail bars around, but sometimes when you do what you do so well there is no need. Staff are friendly, efficient and will go that extra mile for you, so much so that after our meal we chose to stay on in the upstairs bar for a few. Music is seriously eclectic and fun, and when we were heading off elsewhere(to crash a wedding, if you must know!) a live band was setting up. I cant recommend this place enough, especially for groups or girlie catch ups. Little touches just added to the evening, like a wee bag of home made truffles with a 20% off card for your return visit when we paid up. And although I went on a Saturday, I did hear that Sundays all menu items come in at a cheap as chips € 6.66 apiece!
