I have to agree with everyone else. The Walnut does disappoint a bit. I find it a little lacking in some respects — variety mostly — but it’s not all bad. I use it mostly to buy candy, because they have a good selection and slushees. This is the closest thing to a Slurpee you will find in Ireland, so this place gets an added star for selling the frozen treats. It’s just a generic convenience store, nothing special really.

The Walnut is nine times out of ten surrounded by junior delinquents eating callipos and chomp bars. It’s a relatively crappy newsagent/sweet shop/convenience store/ice cream café. Yes, they do ice cream sundaes. They’re hugely disappointing, I was lured into buying one while buying bog roll once. It’s only saving grace is that it does slushees. A godsend when you’re hungover. Also, bizarrely enough, every single item in the entire shop is individually price tagged. No lie, check it out.

Packing surprisingly little into so much space, Walnut seems to be one of those shops you go into in a hurry, fail to find what you were looking for and run out of frustrated. I say that because it’s happened to me three or four times at this stage.
