It’s a wonderful place for any occasion of looking for a cake or anything do with spoiling yourself with anything from a bakery, I strongly recommend it to anybody who hasn’t been in, if so I would say to people try it once and see if like it,(but we know your going to love it)

I love Thunders. We have two within walking distance of our home and it’s definitely a temptation. I adore their carrot cake and my daughter loves to get their gingerbread men cookies.

Hhhmmmm. I was torn between a 3 or a 4 star for this review but I went with a 3. Their bread is pretty good. I mean like the turnover and the batch loaf are GORGE! The bread rolls on the other hand are disappointing. I have never had a cake from here as I am more of a bread person but apparently their jam donuts are better than Clarkes Bakery in Cabra(gasp!)… The staff are lovely. Nice Dublin Mammys! Kinda what you would expect. They do really nice and cheap made up sandwiches Monday to Friday and this is what I really like about them. Good quality ingredients, nice chicken, homemade coleslaw and lettuce that is NOT out of a packet! I have to be honest though, if I have the time or the energy I would walk towards Cabra and go to Clarkes instead. It has the edge on Thunders.

I love carbs. A nice loaf of white bread is one of the best things ever. After I buy my ingredients for a fry, I often stop in here for bread so I have the perfect toast with my fry. They have a nice selection of cakes and treats, too. The staff is very nice and helpful, too. If you have been buying all your bakery goods from the grocery store or convenience store, stop in here for the real deal. You will not be disappointed.

Local bakeries are a bit of a dying breed these days so it’s nice to see this Thunders Home Bakery still thriving. They do a really appetising selection of bread, scones, buns and cakes. I’ve ordered birthday cake from here a number of times(a day or two in advance is usually fine and they’ll even inscribe it for you) and it’s always been fresh and delicious. I’ve shopped here for scones when my parents were visiting and my mother was particularly taken with the fruit ones — so much so that she went in to buy more to take home with her. By mid-afternoon the shelves and glass counter tend to start emptying out, which just goes to show how popular Thunders’ goodies are, so it’s best to get here early if you’ve some stocking up to do.

It’s such an odd name for a bakery! It’s a great little place and it’s refreshing to find a thriving local bakery in the heart of this Dublin Community. They have a variety of breads, cakes and buns. I am a huge fan of their ginger bread men, delicious! Prices are reasonable, service is warm and friendly. It always seems to be packed anytime I walk by it, which says it all really.

Possibly this place is owned by someone named Mr Thunder but that seems unlikely… so they actually chose the name. I mean, ‘Thunders Motorbikes’ or ‘Thunders Bodybuilding Gym’ would be plausible, but ‘Thunders Home Bakery’? It’s like having a ‘Sr Agnes’s Adult Shop’ or ‘Pink and Fluffy’s Goth Emporium’ etc etc… Ok weird nomenclature aside, this is a really lovely bakery: scones, breads, viennese biscuits with jam and dark chocolate, cream slices and those weird mincemeat squares that are impossible to eat without dribbling all over yourself. It’s all delicious, and none of it tastes like bland supermarket processed rubbish — cos it’s Thunders Home Bakery don’tcha know!
