I used to go to Specsavers for contact lenses, but my glasses broke and I didn’t like any of the glasses they had so I decided to get an eye test and glasses as Vision express since they have much more variety. The eye test costed me € 30 which to be honest, is a bit steep but the service itself was very thorough and the optician who did was very nice, gave me advice regarding eye care as I have dry eyes, and even wrote a letter to take to my doctor about my fundus photograph. They were a bit busy when I went, but the whole process took about 45 mins. The staff downstairs were also very friendly and helpful, and the shop is really pristine with a coffee machine in the waiting rooms upstairs. Regarding glasses, they have a huge variety from as cheap as € 49 to the designer brands like Prada, Armani, Fendi, Dior, Ralph Lauren etc. which cost from € 189−300+ of course). Specsavers don’t seem to stock these high end brands, so if your after those then I’d recommend Vision Express. One of the staff looked after me was very patient as I tried on almost every pair of glasses before settling on a pair of black Ralph Laurens, and they had the lenses in stock so I was able to collect them after an hour. Also, if you buy a pair thats € 189+, you get € 129 off a second pair and have 60 days to redeem that. Overall, it’s expensive but the quality and selection of glasses is good. For the eye tests you need to let them know whether it is for glasses, contacts or a driving licence when booking. Comparing to Specsavers, Specsavers would be better in terms of deals and is cheaper especially for contacts so I still go to them for those. But for glasses I’d say Vision Express is better.

I called into Vision Express on the advice of a friend after a rather alarming eye related incident in work. The optician was lovely, very thorough with her exam and I felt she was actually interested and concerned when I told her about my scary experience(I lost peripheral vision for a bit, not a nice thing to happen). It would have been five stars only for when I arrived in the shop not a single sales assistant was at the front desk nor anyone at the desk upstairs at the eye clinic so i was left sitting rather awkwardly twiddling my thumbs for a bit. I was also pleased that the optician wasn’t pushing me to look at frames, I find in most opticians they almost harass you to do it.

I have been dealing with Vision Express on Henry street for the past 3 years :) I wear my glasses all day everyday so I need a reliable opticians — Vision Express are just that!!! This store is on a high street so it can become busy — be patient and you will be looked after — top notch service! I have bought three pairs of glasses from this store, including sunglasses. I had searched high and low for a suitable pair of glasses and I did not come across a store with such a extensive range. I recently enquired about buying prescription goggles for swimming and I was shocked at the price…€ 29+change…and they are really good quality!!! Hint: if you do experience any problems with this store then you should realise that some people might just be having a bad day. the general public are not always the nicest… and be smart… inform the manager if you have a problem… I dealt with the manager when I was buying my goggles and he was brilliant!!! Had to have an eye exam — again very good value € 29+change — very

Pleasant doctor — unpleasant receptionist. The doctor was grand, but the receptionist had a bit of an attitude problem. I arrived at 20 minutes to closing time to get a driver license eye exam. There was no queue and the doctor was available immediately. The exam was 20 Euro. The first thing I noticed was that the receptionist was annoyed that I was there. It wasn’t that close to closing time and the eye exam would only take a few minutes. I offered to leave if it was too close to shutting time, but the doctor said nonsense it only takes a few minutes. The receptionist maintained her lemon-sucking expression. The exam was indeed quick. About 10 minutes. I found out I had 20⁄15 vision and I got my paper stamped for the government. He didn’t rush, even though it was close to closing. He checked my eyes, did the chart, checked my side vision, asked the standard form of questions, and was polite and personable. Pros: The doctor seemed able, was very polite, non-rushed, and friendly. Cons: The receptionist was rude. 20 Euros is a bit dear for the service.
