Well, what an enjoyable way to spend an evening in our beautiful, bio-diverse city! Shane and the gang from Biodiversity In Our Lives totally blew me away with all their knowledge about everything from natural native habitats and local animals, to ancient trees and fossils. And what’s more, they made something which could potentially be boring, to be totally mind-boggling and relentlessly interesting! There needs to be much more hype made about these guys and the work they do, I was beyond impressed.

I had never thought of Trinity College as such an interesting place for nature lovers. I’d certainly associate it with architecture, science and history, but after this great little tour I feel like I’ve been shown a whole new layer of reality. I like how they chose this campus to deliver the message of the tour, because it’s amazing how much activity you can spot in such a limited and urban space. And besides, there’s a lot of research and history related to biodiversity going on there. From Darwin to mythical wine cellars, stolen narwhal tusks and«medicinal» herbs used for the wrong reasons, it was a very amusing and quirky insight into some of the tales Trinity College encloses. But we also learned about the impact of certain human actions over the fauna and flora, in things so simple as the cutting of the grass or the introduction of non-native species. This was such an interesting tour because we could see, touch and smell many of the plants we were talking about, so instead of a boring hour long talk we got a wonderful evening stroll picking up things and listening to their stories.
