Frewen & Aylward is a great menswear shop with a wide ranging collection assembled from all the biggest brands and a large number of smaller brands. It’s definitely targeting the wiser, greyer gentleman in society, and you might want to have a few shillings on you, but if you’re the type who goes shopping for good quality staple clothes once every year or two, then Frewen & Aylward is the place. Here’s a random fact, one of the Irish Dragons from the Dragons’ Den, Niall O’Farrell, started his empire here in the sock department. I don’t think he has anything to do with Frewen & Aylward anymore, but he does own Black Tie and a few Henry Jermyn shops round n’ abouts. I really like this mini-Arnotts for men, it’s managed to move with the times and remain popular, where many fail, and winning the long-windedly titled ‘2008 Drapers Award for Mens Retailer of the Year in the UK and Ireland’ in the process ain’t bad. All this plus attentive and helpful staff garner a very well deserved four stars for Frewen & Aylward.
