The Giddy Goose Café — a strange but wonderful place. Was closed for quite an extended period of time a few months ago and reopened EXACTLY the same(from what I can tell) just recently. When I was there on a Saturday morning I had the Eggs Benedict and a little swirling danish. Both were wonderful. The Eggs Benedict was a wonderful concoction of two perfectly cooked poached eggs and a creamy hollandaise sauce with a well fried rasher on top of two English muffins which were fresh and delicious, the Danish I finished with was buttery and crunchy at the same time and a cut above the usual. I bizarrely skipped a tea or coffee in there that morning as I had one earlier with my sis, so all I can comment on was the tap water(I’m a stinge alright) which came in a large bottle! There’s one minor thing to mention and the only reason the place doesn’t get the 5 stars and that was service. Staff were run off their feet and took a long time to get me a menu, to take my order and ultimately to get served the food. Again, I didn’t see this as being the staff’s fault — they just seemed to have an awful lot to do and maybe an extra team member wouldn’t go astray.

Website, Unilocal and sticker on window say that this café is open from 10am, however when we showed up at 11:30am it was still closed

Went there in a Saturday afternoon for coffee. Also tried their lemonade which was very good. The place was quite and warm. Lovely staff. People were having brunch and it looked very good. Tried the scone — delicious.

This is seriously one of my favorite brekkie spots in DL. The full Irish is so big, no matter how many times I order and try to finish, I never do. Maybe I should stop trying. The coffee is good, which is always a plus for me and if paired with the carrot cake it is damn near heaven. The atmosphere is lovely, warm and welcoming. Between the friends chatting over a lazy brunch or the families spending some quality time together, even if out for a solitary bite to eat, I never feel alone. Plus, I am absolutely in platonic love with the owner. She and I always chat about baking, food, and how much we love Dun Laoghaire(we are both ex-pats). It really is a lovely little place to have breakfast.

Cute coastal interior. Nice cold blended mocha. Crazy good Oreo cupcake. Friendly, quick service. Really perked up my afternoon!

My family and I had brunch here on Saturday. The place has a decent décor and feel — very comfortable(though they do have high chairs and tables as well as regular height tables and chairs — I am not sure that this adds to the ambience). Anyway, on the plus side, the coffee was good, there was a delicious vegetable soup, they had a very nice muffin(sadly it was buried by an unfortunate attempt at eggs florentine, and the place is exceedingly child friendly — I enjoyed using the crayons — while my daughter was a fan of the peppa pig flash cards. On the down side, see unfortunate eggs, and cloyingly sweet crepes(they called them pancakes) — blah! The service was not bad, until the end when it seemed like our waiter went out for his brunch break. If you are in Dun Laoghaire and you are desperate to sit around and read something in a pleasant environment and food is an extra, this is the place for you.
