Great spot for a chilled out evening. Cozy with miss matched furniture and a good selection of beers. Good service and great to see there are a lot of regulars here too.

Since moving to the area a few months ago, this is our favourite local by far. Definitely the most unique, far from the standard Irish pub. Interesting game and music nights about every day of the week, sometimes sporting events or films on the projection screen. Good selection of beers and whiskies at a fair price and the staff and management are great.

Mixed reviews on this one. Positive points firstly(always go positive!), the bar is super trendy and really well done on the décor. They also do really great deals, we had a bucket of 5 brahma(brazilian beer bottles 330ml) for 15 euros — so 3 euros a beer. not bad. i cam here after SUP event and we got free«BBQ», not really a bbq but a platter. Was really tasty, was like asian fusion of chicken skewers and chicken wings and asian crisps. was good, but we had about 7 people. so some of us went to mcdonalds afterwards just for some cheap something(SUP-ing is much harder than it looks!).the staff were also really friendly and attentive. they didn’t mind us fuffing about with each person paying individually for a bucket of beer and we had table service(this was a saturday night). the negatives looked at the platter prices and what we had was supposed to be for 5 but was 25 euros — hmmmm not 100% sure what we got would be sufficient for that. Ive been to loads of places with finger food and this just wouldn’t suffice for the amount you are paying — but each to their own Overall the pub was great, unfortunately it is in Dun Leery(yes I am spelling it this way because i don’t speak irish and its way too hard to spell!), so its not easily accesible, the dart stop at 11:30, so you can’t really spend the time out here. But the area is beautiful and it is close to the dart to get home easily. Seemed really local which was nice, very well done up and not full of the typical dublin craic(i.e. often drunk, impoverished, who-knows-what crowd) Would definitely hit here again if ever about in Dun Leery

La decoración vintage de este pub proporciona una atmósfera diferente y agradable, además parece que todos los días ofrecen distintos tipos de entretenimiento, fuimos un domingo en la noche y tenían un concurso de bandas y había bastante gente pero se pasa un buen rato.

Gilbert & Wright looks quite small from the outside but the narrow façade hides a very large space separated into rooms across two floors. There’s a very lovely homely but trendy feel about the place. Two of us arranged to meet here on recommendation of the barber ‘across the road’(who deserves a review… I’m on it) and we were not disappointed. Great place, buzzing on a Friday night, good music, exceptional service from attentive bar staff. Quite a few tables were enjoying Thai delivered from a restaurant across the road which was a great idea. Maybe we’ll try that option next time. There will be a next time, absolutely, and I can’t wait to find a reason to go there again.

I really liked this place. I was staying in Dun Laoghaire and was looking for a place to have a pint and a bit of craic, so I wandered into this place on a Thursday night. It sounded fun and it was! There was a man playing live music and he was very good. Being from the US I didn’t know anyone in the entire country basically and within 10 minutes some friendly guys were talking to me. Not creepy at all, just friendly and funny. The crowd there is a little over my age group so when I went back the next night I just hung out with a friend from the US and enjoyed the € 5 cocktails! Great place, I’d definitely go back when I return to Ireland, but probably with a friend. Love the atmosphere, love the drinks. :)

I’ve popped in here a few times and I quite like the fee lof the place. The clientele is a good mix of ages and there’s a nice atmosphere in the place. It never seems to get jammed… I don’t know if it’s just because of the location or what but I like that. The only problem is during the colder months and yoou’re near the door, there’s no protection from the cold air blowing in on top of you though it does provide yoou with the opportunity to ask someone you’ve your eye on if they wouldn’t mind sharing their body heat!

Great place but pity about the nonexistent ventilation and obsession with lighting candles. They’re a health hazard, particularly in warm weather. There’s a serious problem breathing with the oxygen removed from the air. know that I, and several other customers have complained about it, but it seems to have no effect. It must be far more hazardous than cigarette smoke ever was in a pub with even limited ventilation. Without the candles this would merit a 5.

I’d heard good things about Gilbert and Wright before going there this Saturday. One such ‘thing’ was that the clientèle isn’t the kind of clientèle one has come to expect in Dun Laoghaire-based establishments these days, and thankfully this was true. The décor is odd, but refreshing. The crowd is a nice blend of youth and experience, which leaves you with an equal chance of bumping into one of your younger cousins and one of your very old primary school teachers on a mid-pint stroll to the toilet(for the record, I bumped into neither while I was there). The music was the cherry on the top. Any momentary silences in conversation were filled by Jimi Hendrix, Noël Gallagher or John Lennon. I look forward to going back. I just hope the Scott’s/Paps crowd don’t get a whiff of the atmosphere.

Thank the lord for Gilbert & Wright! Dun Laoghaire finally has a decent pub!!! The décor is candle-lit, with a mis-match of comfy sofas and armchairs surrounded by old records on the walls. A very comfortable, relaxed and fun atmosphere. Look above in the back room and you’ll see a montage of movie posters on the ceiling… there’s something different in every nook an cranny of this wonderful pub. On the occasions I have visited there has always been a good deal of drinks, sometimes 2 cocktails for the price of one, some beers are only € 3.50 some nights. A real nice place to chill out on a night! Highly recommend!

Went with my wife to check this pub out last Friday. Had heard about it as it is managed by Jackie { Late of SPAR Monkstown}. The place is a real breath of fresh air and just what Monkstown\ Dun Laoghaire needed. Reminded us of what the Mad Hatter in Blackrock was like 15 years ago. A real buzz to the place. Décor is great, service was super and there was a big crowd without being a cattle mart. Well done to all concerned on this one.
