Hmmmm. Popped in today and granted the experience is nicer than say Smiths(which I never visit– I do all my toy shopping online opting for wooden as opposed to plastic fantastic). Had a walk around the ground floor and very disappointed to seeing a large area of the ground floor dedicated to sweets at perfect baby/toddler height and in this section of the store. Tantrums for sweets ensues. I’m sure this is an hourly occurrance there. Awful. Cashing in on pester power and not exactly healthy with giant lollipops, jelly beans etc. No place in a toy shop in my estimation. Got home with 2 products from Hamleys own range to find neither worked and I am/was seriously annoyed. Called the store and an unhelpful«floor manager» who clearly has been on a one hour customer service course did his«understandable you’re upset» line. No listening, and then quoted his refunds policy to me, When I stated that this was not helpful and that legally he was obliged to refund or replace faulty good he picked an argument with me saying well«you mentioned store policy». Whaaattttt??? Then the immortal line«what can we do to help» and when you suggest something he laughs and says, well of course we cant do that… Fuming as two presents for my toddler who are just out of hospital are now back in the hall awaiting return. Will stick to online alternatives. Hamleys own brand is just **** in my opinion. Trading off the name… No sense or apology for having greatly inconvenienced a customer who made a special trip to their store today and spent a considerable amount.

Best toy shop ever! Totally beats Smyth’s butt! I love how fun it get’s when you walk in you just see the staff showing the toys off and mini helicopters flying in the air. It’s so annoying because you just want to buy everything in there grr haha! Loveee it all

This has to be by far the best Toy-Shop I have ever been in, I knew about Hamley’s background in England so I was excited that it was coming to Ireland. At first I was like it’s going to be average but then I walked through the doors and well I was EXTREMELY wrong! This extraordinary toy shop has 3 Super-Cali-Fragilistic-Expialidocious Floors choc full of very good quality toys and amazing staff it’s the Ultimate Childhood Dream in a Toy-Store

It’s hard not to like Hamleys — you get to play with the toys and they have Jelly Belly Beans! I miss the in-house ‘Game’ section though Great for small kids heads, large kid heads and bobble heads!

This is probably one of the best toy stores I have ever been in. The store sits on three levels in the Dundrum town center and has loads of toys and selection for every age group. We picked up quite a few toys as gifts for friends and family as well as our son just prior to Christmas time. Also, we went here with my son to visit Santa in November 2012 and it was one of the best setups for seeing Santa Claus that I have ever experienced in the US previously. Hamleys executes the entire process very well and I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else while in Ireland.

They now have a sandpit in store — a huge ‘I cant believe I’m not at the beach’ sandpit. This is the toy-store to beat all toy stores!

Back in the old days, kids didn’t have the options of over-stuffed toy-stores jam-packed with action figures, teddies or computer games. If they got bored, they had to use the imagination and make toys from whatever they found lying around the house or garden. Children today don’t have this problem. There’s no ending to the noise-making gadgets, plastic dolls and swingballs to keep kids entertained day in and out. Don’t know if it’s a good development, but we love them all the same. Hamley’s bills itself as the ‘finest toys in the world’. That’s a fare slogan as it really is a great shop for kids and kids at heart. Here you’ll find everything from plastic army men to board games and if your daughter wants to be a princess or an artist, your boy dreams of becoming an astronaut or next Schumacher, Hamley’s will have the toys to fit. If they don’t have it then it most likely doesn’t exist. Just be careful. You will most likely have to leave with your kid strapped down or a much lighter wallet.

The Giraffe, thats the one thing that makes me go ooooooohhhhh when i walk into this shop. you might not see him at first but as you go up the escalator you will see him, he is ginormous, he is a life size giraffe teddy thing with a giant neck! how did they even get him in there? did they build the store around him? did they stuff him in the shop? he is so cool! The rest of the shop is great too, there is such a great selection of stuff in here that is not equalled any where else The way it is all laid out too is brilliant, there is a boy floor and a girl floor and a gadgety floor and a book section and somewhere to stop and have a rest with some tea then there is the sporty bit and the dress up bit and the teddy bit. there is just everything and you can definitely get some affordable things in here too.

Looking for a lady dressed as the evil queen from Snow White, conversing earnestly with a customer about the location of Kerplunk? Come to Hamleys, where this and many other esoteric dreams can come true. It has three floors of toys, toys, toys, and lots of opportunities to try before you buy. Just bring a child with you as a beard.

There is a lot of history here, and I ain’t very sure exactly what it is, but i am aware that this store is quite significant. i think. Whatever about that, this place is simply cool. . its just… i dunno… its like every boys dream .(this boy being 22!) The way i see it, if i was as entertained here as i was then i cant imagine what a child would think. Toys everywhere, everything is free to try out and look at. It’s as close to Disneyland as you can get in Dublin I’d say. Huge range of everything toys! Just wow…

Hamleys is every kids dream — both actual kids, and big kids. I’ve a 28 yr old friend who got a SERIOUS kick out of being there recently! The first hamleys was opened in 1760 and their flagship store has been famous the world over for its unique toys and wonderful shopping experience. It’s first ever stand-alone European store(outside of the London shop) was opened not so long ago at Dundrum Town Centre. I suppose the best way to describe hamleys is out of this world. From the second you step inside, it’s colourful fun and busy. With staff dressed up as various characters and all sorts of things whizzing by your head and on the floor, it’s easy to get excited as a kid on Christmas morning. They have everything really — stuffed animals, dress up clothes, computer games, barbie’s, magic sets… the list really is endless. There’s definitely no other toy shop like this in Dublin.
