I’ve been using glasses for at least 10 years and recently I’ve started to feel that I might need to update my lens as I’m experiencing some pain on my sight. So I’ve decided to give a shot to Specsavers to buy a new pair of specs and at the beginning was very impressed with the shop and above all with the ophthalmologist practicing there. Very nice and very professional! A week later after paying 234 €, for the new specs, I showed up to collect those and the adventure started. They lost my receipt that I just handle to them 10 minutes earlier to collect the glasses, so they had to print another one. They couldn’t give me my prescription so I can keep it as a medical record, as their doctor didn’t signed it, and so can’t be released. I’ve bought a lens liquid cleaner marked 3.20 € on the front, and on the back was marked 6.40 € !!! What the hell??? After spending 234 € they wouldn’t just offer you the lens cleaner that probably cost them 1 € at the source instead of charging a new customer 6.40 €! What a rip-off!!! And now at home, I just realized that the lens are crap, as they get reflection all over, not just on the outside BUT inside, so when using this glasses its like that the lens aren’t cleaned! And I know I didn’t pay the extra 45 € for the anti-reflection coating, but nobody did ever mentioned that reflection will be so present on the inside… And the reading glasses only work fine if you are 25 cm from the PC screen, as if you seat back around 40 cm they became a bit blur! Meaning that I’ve spend the last 10 years with fantastic Essilor lens without any of this issues, and now I have Crap lens from the expensive Specsavers shop. So will have to go to a different shop now just to have new lens, as with Specsavers just lost money and time, as quality appears not to be their main business!

The impression I had of specsavers and such places was that this is cut-price optitions and you get what you pay for and really I should be going to a proper optition… but damn it, they are on my way home from work and I am a lazy lazy man. Hugely impressed with the care and attention that I got from the guys, the seemingly endless array of tests and the attention to detail was great. After wifey had approved my frames choice I got measured up(again, lots of checking, double checking and measuring) and 4 days later I collected the specs… I dealt with 4 staff members in all and each one was genuinely friendly and helpful(or if not genuinely, then they were great actors, and that’s all that matters!) . recommended!

I popped in here with my mother in tow as she is looking for a new hearing aid and she made an appointment. While there I decided that I may as well get my eyesight checked as it has been about a year since my last check up. They were able to fit me in and took my glasses off to check them before giving me an eye test which they then did quite throughly. Health of my eyes all good no drastic change in my vision so I did not need new glasses. I asked about the operation you can have to correct your sight but I was told that my eye sight was not really bad enough. I do like it when I am advised that I dont have to spend money. I also asked about getting frames from on line — I had noticed the cost of their frames in the shop and I was told there would be a charge of € 45 for them doing the fitting. I was very impressed that I was not pushed into buying anything else and all my questions were answered clearly and to my satisfaction. While there I thought I may as well get my hearing checked as I do on occasion get told by family members that they think that I am deaf. Had head phones put over my ears to block any sound and all I had to do was press a button when I heard any sound from a machine. Simple. Tested well for my hearing and asked the girl to confirm to said mother I was not deaf. Bless her she told my mother I had ‘selective hearing’. …she is probably quite correct.
