4 stars for the bar/pub, only 3.5 stars for the food. The bar is a nice large space with lots of wood and feels like a nice lodge. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had animal antlers hanging around(I don’t think they do). The drinks are traditional Irish pub with Guinness and others on draft and whiskeys. The food menu varies from traditional Irish pub food with fish and chips and some lamb stew to burgers and salads and soup of the day. I started with a side salad which was pretty good as it came with lots of stuff in it besides tomato and greens it had green beens and some bell peppers(it also comes with onions not mentioned in the description, so if you are like me, you should request no onions as they placed too many on mine). I went for the Cannellini Beans, Cherry Tomato, Roasted Pepper & Butternut Squash Bake which was like a baked pasta dish without the pasta, but it was super good and filing. I think last time I liked the soup of the day better. The staff are friendly and will check on you often enough. If staying nearby, this is a good choice.

We stayed at the hotel so the location can’t be beat. The beer choice was pretty stale and could use a bit more variety given all the new and upcoming craft beer from the area. The food was very good. Love that you can order a small salad. The wait for the salmon was worth it. Perfectly cooked. Interesting combo of beans, squash, and pine nuts. Nice atmosphere. Very low keep due to the bank holiday but good enough service and nice menu options. Fair prices.

We’re staying at the hotel so the convenience can’t be beat… However the food is AMAZING!!! We had breakfast this morning and it was delicious. Now winding down our day with some drinks and dinner only to find we should’ve eaten here every meal. Quality food with nice rich flavor and presentation. The service is excellent and friendly. Highly recommend this place!

Preacher’s Pub is a nice pub located in the Templegate Hotel. Templegate is a great hotel too sure. They have ample seating, Serve a brilliant carvery lunch, and have good live music on the weekends. It’s also one of the few places in Ennis that has outdoor seating so it’s a great place to grab a pint in the summer on a hot day in the sun!
