The place was full due to a wedding reception… Which made it a very cheerful place to have dinner. The menu was very appetising; and for a reasonable price too! We will be coming back for sure.

Lovely view down to the sea, that was my favorite part. I got a toastie and some veggie soup, so nothing over the top gourmet, but let me tell you — it was fantastic. Totally hit the spot, and the soup was s(o)uper delicious.

I wanted to like it, I really really did. My husband and I have not been away since we got married so we decided a short little mini break down to Sligo would do the trick, especially when a deal for this place came up. I consulted Trip Adviser who advised me this was a decent place to spend a day or two. Entering the lobby, I was optimisic. The place was clean, nicely decorated and seemed lovely. As a special treat my husband secured a sea view room for an extra 15e a night. We got our keys and hurried up to the room, excited. When we opened the door, I was underwhelmed. The rooms are okay. They’re boring. The choice of décor was awful and dated. We went to check our sea view. As the room was a roof conversion(I’m guessing) the window was up high and you couldn’t see the sea from the bed. In fact the room overlooked a playground and silly golf course. So the view wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Charging for this is ridiculous. When I ran a bath that night, it leaked under the floor and into the bedroom. Staff came to look at it and suggested we use towels to fix it. Then he said he wuld bring us more towels, they did not materialise. We decided to try the food here the second day. They advertise that they have a restaurant and bar. These are one and the same which was disappointing. They have a restaurant menu with restaurant prices in a bar. If they had restaurant service also, I could forgive them but the staff are clueless. They are lovely, please do not misunderstand, but there’s no organization between them. For starters I had a crispy spring roll and husband had a prawn cocktail. The spring rolls were bland. No flavour. The prawn cocktail was a half harted attempt and didn’t taste great. My husband was worried they wouldn’t get his medium rare steak right. It came out well done. However my salmon was surprisingly nice. I had the seafood chowder the night before and it was great. They do seafood well, but stay away from anything else. On the second night there was a 40th birthday in the function room DIRECTLY under our room. It went on until about 3 am. The fire alarm also went off very early in the morning also I was hoping this would be a relaxing break, I ended going home tired and agitated. Breakfast is good here, I can’t fault it. The staff are nice but need better management. When I mentioned the issues to reception, they did discount the food and ‘sea view room’ premium so they get an extra star for that. Unless they undergo major renovations in their rooms and kitchen I will not be back. I do not recommend it.
