You will find this place in the Bofockil townland. Drive out of Eyeries north. About 1.5 km on park. Climb over the wall and walk down the sea. One will come across an old derelict coastguard station. The coastguard was an arm of the British state. Their role was to rescue sailors in distress but they also had a security role — anti-smuggling and the like. This coastguard station was attacked by the IRA and burnt down in 1920. A detailed account of this may be found in a journal named Éire Ireland — the edition that recounts this event was published about 1967. There is no roof but the walls are standing. The station is about 200 m from the sea. There is very rough ground around it. There is a low wall around the station — about 10 m from the station on all sides. The station was big enough to accommodate 20 people easily. There is a well there.
