This is a perfect stop when driving through the Burren. After driving for 1.5 hours, I started my self-guided your with a video about The Burren(kind of like a national park but not really because people live there and have businesses). Beautiful! I walked around their garden to see the array of plants and flowers they use for their perfumes and scented bath/body supplies(lotions, soaps, etc). Before choosing a perfume, I stopped in the tea shop for some lunch. I can’t remember exactly what I had because it has been a couple of months now(delayed review), but I remember I enjoyed a salad and sandwich of some sort. Afterwards, I ended up buying the Iluan scent for me(and some for family as well). I have even ordered more online now because I love it!

The café at the Burren Perfumery serves up simple fresh fare that is presented elegantly– the menu is small and focuses on locally sourced ingredients, and the dining area is cutesy and welcoming. The salads and bread we had were delicious and wholesome — light and nutritious but substantial, while the cheese board showcased local cheeses and was delicious to boot. The hot drinks and cakes were also lovely, the tea especially went down a treat for the tea-drinkers in our party as it was loose-leaf and organic. My own Green and Black’s hot chocolate was one of the best I’ve had– not too sweet, it reminded me of the hot cocoas of my youth — bittersweet and warming. It’s a lovely place to stop by if you find yourself in the dramatic surroundings of the Burren, it has a beautiful little garden to take a stroll through afterwards and the Perfumery itself is a wonderful shop that looks like an old-style apothecary with all its glass jars lined up on the shelves of the area where they make the products. They sell fragrances, creams and soaps made from the unique plants found here and also show a video that highlights the distinctive flora and fauna of the region.

I made a stop here after a really cold, rainy, and windy day out in the Burren and it was a welcome respite. I had a big bowl of sweet potato soup with spicy chili and it had a really good kick. The goat cheese on toast was delicious and was served with a huge side of greens. It’s a tiny space, but very cozy and the food was really fresh. I definitely enjoyed my meal!

An interesting little place tucked away in the countryside of Ireland. Beautiful drive. The perfume part didn’t interest me(because I’m a guy maybe) but the had a little garden and a tea room. I was hungry so we opted to eat there and was bummed when I only saw cheese on toast(most everything had been sold out; like salmon). I was pleasantly surprised when I ate it though. It was really good and filling. Normally I wouldn’t give a compliment to a veggie meal!
