Mocha Beans

I came here for lunch on a weekday when I was visiting Galway so it wasn’t crowded. The food was nice, I always liked the salads they serve here, and the soups are pretty good too. It was quite warm so they had the doors open, but otherwise the café itself is quite dark inside. They have a lot of free news papers to read and they keep it quite clean. There’s lots on the menu from breakfast to brunch and lunch, as well as coffees (can be made with skim, low fat, regular or soya milk), juices and smoothies. The service was pretty average, the guy who took my order seemed pretty superficial like trying to hide annoyance under a smile, but otherwise the service was mediocre at best. The prices are pretty cheap with almost everything under 10 euro.

I was in far too much of a rush to give this place the review it probably deserves, but lets start from here, and perhaps we’ll work up on another visit. It was early in the morning so the place was pretty empty, so I was seen to quicker than I might like– I didn’t even look at the menu before I was up to order, and did that annoying customer thing of saying all the names aloud before choosing the breakfast bagel (no cheese) and to be less annoying, went for a regular cappuchino. That’s regret no. 1, because despite being great, when I got to the table and finally looked on the menu; well I couldn’t have gone for a more basic option. The bagel came out within five minutes and I managed to scoff half of it before I had to pay and then run for my train, but what I remember of that whirlwind was quite delicious. Just from the menu and from the lovely and chatty service I received (despite the hour of the morning), I’ll definitely be back.

The coffee was really good, although I needed an extra shot of espresso to make it less milky. They do have free wifi, but only for 19 minutes at a time, which was slightly disturbing. I was hoping to do some school work, but I needed uninterrupted wifi. It’s a cute café though with friendly staff.

Wife enjoyed the Green Tea Latte and the breakfast items were a very nice starter to the morning.
