My wife and I were in Glengariff for the Free Music Festival in 04/2012…On the night we ventured out, Bernard Harrington’s was hosting the band(s). The music venue, as it turned out, was not in the main part of the pub, but in the slightly claustrophobic«snug». ANDITROCKED! We were seated next to the band, which made it difficult for conversation, but suited our purpose just the same. Booze and tunes being our priority, it was Mission Accomplished. The Pub is family owned and the staff is phenomenal. As Americans, we were a bit apprehensive about how we would be perceived by the locals in this tiny edge of Ireland. Our fears were completely unjustified, and we found the people to be as welcoming as any you might encounter here in the South. The prices are par for the course of just about any pub we went to, and we didn’t try anything off the menu(being more interested in sustenance of the malt and barley variety). The only reason for the four stars is the time/event that brought us to Bernard Harrington’s, with a fifth star dependent on our experience outside of the Festival.
