Glengarriff Park Hotel

I was recently here for a couple of days with friends from Belfast, the hotel is quite new and so the rooms and facility’s are very clean, modern and well appointed.
We were lucky enough to catch the end of the local music festival which made it all the more special (for special read — crammed into a small local pub while traditional music filled the air from the group of superbly talented musicians in the corner, loving every minute of it).
Also ate in the hotel restaurant and the prices were very reasonable and the food was hot, tasty and well presented, served by friendly local staff as well.
If you’d like something a little different for breakfast or indeed a snack, you can do worse than walk up the hill to the east and go to Jims Coffee House.

It felt like visiting a friend’s home, such was the welcome. The hotel itself is not the Ritz but has a good basic standard of comfort and an excellent level of hygiene and tidiness. I was a bit surprised by the price of the Thai curry in the restaurant but when I saw the quality and quantity of the fresh fish in it, I felt I had got a bargain. The restaurant didn’t feel anonymous and hotelly, it was actually quite nice and intimate. The staff are the real selling point though, great ambassadors for the hotel and for Cork in general! They couldn’t have done more for me. I expressed an interest in getting the ferry to nearby Garnish Island if the weather was ok, and the person on duty at the desk contacted the ferry operator without me even asking, and called my room to let me know that the ferry was indeed operating that day. That’s just one example of how I was taken care of. Great little hotel, lovely location, I had such a relaxing time.

This is the newest addition to accommodation in Glengarriff. The hotel is nice and modern with nice large comfortable rooms. The bathrooms are huge too which i think always gives an air of luxury to any room! I think the fact that it is new is definitely on its side because the rooms have a very modern air about them. The staff in here are lovely too and you can have dinner or a drink downstairs in the hotel restaurant or bar.
The great thing about this hotel is its location. It is right in the middle of the village so whatever way you turn you will hit a pub or a shop or something interesting to look at. Despite being in the village its not too noisy so you can good refreshing sleeps to keep you going for another day of touring around west cork!
