Great place to visit with young children. We visited for the first time back in March when they first opened for the season & decided to buy a multi-trip; buy 5 visits for the price of 3. We are delighted we did. We visited yesterday for the 3rd time and it was a great day out again especially in the sunny weather. The kids love to see all the animals and staff take mice/rabbits/etc out for you to pet. There is a café that does excellent coffee and a nice, healthy sandwich/pop corn/drink pack for the kids. They have lots of old photos on the wall to reminisce about the times you used to watch Glenroe as a kid. It’s amazing how you immediately remember the characters from years ago & my wife and I had a little fun recounting stories from the show. There is a great playground with lots of open space for the kids. However it can get a little chilly if there is a breeze. Yesterday we did the nature walk and were pleasantly surprised. There were 19 signs spaced along the walk describing the flora & fauna and our 3 year old had a great time running to find each one. Along the way there are two beautiful gardens to stop and rest. We only met one lady on the way so it would be ideal for a quite walk or picnic particularly if it was busy. I would definitely recommend it for families with young children aged 2 – 10.

On the day i went there i did not have too long so unfortunately did’nt get to go as far as the enchanted garden. as you go into the center you are met with a big shop full of toy pigs and cows etc. then as you g o in, you are met by a wee traditional cottage with kitchen utensils, old beds and mangles and things which makes it interesting. They have some pigs, cows, some mad geese that run after you for food, deer, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, sheep and much more. Children can get to hold the rabbits and guinea pigs under the supervision of staff. they have a walkway around the farm which makes viewing of all the animals quite easy. Now for those not aware glenroe farm is based on an old Irish soap about a wicklow farming community. the café has lots and lots of pictures of Biddy and Miley, and other soap stars from the Reardans right up to Glenroe. i remember when i was 19 i worked in the hunters hotel and fed them most sundays and they seemed really nice. it adds an interesting factor to the visit if you have time to look at the pictures. oh the food it serves; you’re better off bringing your own picnic, pretty dear for plain café food. but the rest of the visit is well worth it.

Great fun for small children, with a bigger range of animals than I expected, and a decent playground. Just a short drive from Dublin it’s well worth a visit
