This place hands down was the highlight of our Irish lodgings. We found the property on Airbnb. It’s a 300 year old thatched roof cottage. 2 bedrooms(a master with a queen bed and another room with twin beds) one bath, a family room, and a kitchen. It just looks and feels what you think of when you think Irish Cottage. The cool thing is you can stay there for 2 nights and you don’t have to rent the whole week… although you definitely should. And will kick yourself like I am for not spending more time there. In 20 minutes you can walk the parimeter of the whole town. The bonus is there is access to Kells Priory a mere 5 minutes walk from the house. It is sooooo cool to go around there and look at the ruins. There are two abandoned mills to look at too. There is a cool pub that makes pizza, called Shirley’s. Kells is close to the medieval town of Kilkenny. You could drive to Wicklow, Waterford, Wexford, whatever from there. Closeby is Stoneyford which has a cheese shop and good take away Indian food. The owners of the property are right next door and are suuuper cool.
