Felt like Indian… In Ireland ?!! and was recommended Bombay palace. Was quickly greeted and helpfully suggested dishes that were reasonably priced. Service was outstanding and the dishes were delicious. Would definitely recommend for anyone stopping by town. Absolutely fantastic.

For some time we’ve been looking for a good Indian restaurant during our tour of Ireland. We finally found one. Our tour director suggested Bombay Palace and we were very pleased that she had. We were seated promptly and noticed immediately that there were quite a few tables filled. This became quite a busy restaurant during the dinner hour. I also noticed local patrons taking takeout. The samosas seems smaller than I am used to but with tasty nonetheless. I had a northern Indian dish, chicken balti, Which was terrific. My wife similarly raved about her beef dansak. Both with dishes we had not previously tried in any Indian restaurants back in the states. The Peshawery naan was wonderful but was served with ghee despite my asking to omit the butter. No big thing. Note that the rice is a la carte.

I hate to be a negative Nancy but this place was not good at all! I love Indian cuisine and this place had a great selection of foods but unfortunately it did not deliver. Firstly we were 2 of 8 people in the restaurant yet we waited 20 minutes for someone to come take our order. They didn’t have half of the drinks on the menu that I tried to offer. The food was really expensive and didn’t come with any sides at all! We were waiting over 20 minutes after the waiter took our order so eventually I had to ask if we would be waiting much longer. As soon as we asked the food appeared in front of us(Had it been ready all along?) I ordered a Green curry and my friend ordered a chilli curry. They actually both looked and tasted the same! Bland is not the word. They tasted like someone had poured half a bottle of salt into each of our meals. I could not eat it! I was not happy at all. We asked for the bill and the waiter clearly seeing that neither of our dishes had barely been touched did not even ask if everything had been okay. If you enjoy waiting around and getting a bland salty dish and like to pay for every little extra. This is the place for you. Sorry guys!

We enjoyed this very much though our server wasn’t much help with the menu. The restaurant was very warm. Nice atmosphere, good service.

I hate writing bad reviews but I have to be honest even when I don’t like a place! This is the second time I’ve been here. The last time I remember the food being underwhelming but I decided to give it another chance. This time I started out with some poppadoms. They were light fresh and crispy, a good start. I ordered the vegetable Biryani. It was bland and overly dry with a few carrots, potatoes, green beans and peas but mostly lots and lots of dry mediocre rice. The only part I finished was my glass of coke and it wasn’t because I was full. Maybe I’m spoiled living in Dublin but this Indian cuisine was not authentic or special at all. :(

Maybe they were having a bad day when the guy below me went… I’ve been to Bombay Palace several times, a few years apart, and it has been great every time. It’s not quite as good as Indian food in England, but it’s SO much better than anything in America. I wish this place was over here!

Food here is overpriced, flavorless and everything seems to have a lot of added sugar. They don’t even have chai, only standard tea. This place must depend on tourists that will never return, because it’s not authentic, affordable or interesting. The mango lassi I had was € 4 and seemed like it was mixed with mango juice. Very light mango flavor and quite watery. The nan was decent, but the chicken tikka masala and goa curry both had enormous chunks of over cooked flavorless meat and were really sweet and otherwise bland. The aloo gobi was decent, but also bland. Pros: –Eager staff who stood together and stared at me eating as I was the first diner in the place at dinner. Creepy. Cons: –Pricey for what it is. –Bland. –Somehow the curry is all sweet. –Overcooked and under-seasoned meats. –Not authentic.
