Killarney Brewing Company

My wife and I just came back from 2 weeks in Killarney. We were fortunate to be staying just down the street from the brewery and popped in. They just opened 2 years ago. The IPA and the stout were excellent. I even asked for it in a local pub at the Holiday Inn but the were out? Now this is what a stout brew should have — deep flavors and good golden color. I purchased a tee shirt as a memento! I wish them well.

We were lucky enough to get in right before closing, only in Ireland will you find this patience. Padraig the bartender was great and filled us in on the story of how the brewery started. They hope this beer makes it over to the states soon and I do as well. Their helles and stout were amazing and although I hate IPA I could even agree they had a good one.
They make a clean natural beer and if you tell them their stout is better than Guinness they will look at you with disgust and then laugh it off.
Great people and great beer! If not for the beautiful scenery I could hang out here all day.

A great new edition to Killarney and a boon to people who want good beer in Ireland. This new brewery is an American style craft brewery with a talented brewer. The IPA and the stout, especially, were excellent. Now this is what a stout should taste like — deep flavors with a nice hoppy balance; nothing like the bland swill out of Dublin! The Helles was also really well done. They claim the quality of their brews comes from the quality of the local water. Indeed, that appears to be true.
At the moment, in order to conform with local licensing requirements, you need to go on a brewery tour, which costs € 10, and then you get to sample their beers. The tour guides/​bartenders are very friendly and are happy to share lots of information with you on the beers and the region. Strangely, this license does not allow them to actually sell beer retail (no growlers or bottles) so you can take away some of your favorites. Hopefully that will change.
